US Apocalypse Rules?

I'm playing my first game on the US Apocalypse map, #2424880 and in the game log it occasionally gives a player a one army bonus for "holding a radiation nexus." What does that mean? Perhaps I am missing it but apparently certain irradiated cities, when held in pairs, grant a bonus? Where is that described on the map? I do see it on the text map when using BOB but I can't figure it out from the image map. The map actually indicated a penalty of -1 for holding 2 irradiated territories, not +1.

Radiation Nexus is just a name given to an effect of holding number of irradiated territories that given you a positive result. It's an out of date way to code the complexity of the bonus calculations, before the XML was upgraded to adjust for certain things. Follow the sign post on the map.

I think you get -1 army for every irradiated territory, and +1 army for every pair of irradiated territories. Been a while since I played the map though so I'm not completely sure.

the territories are socal, sttl-0000, dallas, illinois, georgia, old new amsterdam.

you get -1 if you have 1
you get -1 if you have 2
you get 0 if you have 3
you get 2 if you have 4
you get 5 if you have 5
you get 9 if you have 6

it shows it on the signpost in the bottom left.

Adds up then, -1 for every single territory and +1 for every pair of them.
