to play a good strategy game...i play all settings, and it seems like 180 of my last 200 games have simply been won by who gets lucky dice, im not bitching about the dice not being random becuase threw all the games it evens out, but f*ck, i hate winning/losing games becasue i can win a 10vs15 then a 4vs6 then a 5vs8 for the win.

Indeed, my most recent doodle 1 on 1 freestyle, the guy started with 3 in europe, 2 in africa, and like arabia or something. Meanwhile, none of my armies connected and he's getting good rolls and mine, bad.

Because of the dice (and cards) luck will always be one factor... but overall strategy and tactics employed to see it through can't be discounted completely. I'm in several games that are reaching the century mark and another that's now beyond two hundred that are going to require some well executed strategy to survive. The dice will have to be taken into account too... but they aren't the only thing that will turn the advantage in these games.

I like W 2.1 and Waterloo (with no cards) for their good strategic game potentials.

Food for thought - this is why sometimes its easier to win a multiplayer game than a 1v1. In multiplayer your skill is more important because even if one or two players have mad bonus drops, there are at least a few other folks out shitting in the canoe with you, so you'll pick off one or two of them for cards if you know what your doing, and manage to stake a claim and even out the drop. And, relatively speaking, first draw gives you less of an advantage, cause you can't knock down all your opponents, but, of course, last draw in a multiplayer game is not great, but perhaps not even quite as bad as in 1v1 unless everybody gangs on you in the first move.

In 1v1, dice will make or break you every time. In multiplayer, position and tactical manuevers get you more, and if you play right, you're only going on all out attacks in a small portion of the game.

I don't know... maybe I don't know what I'm talking about here cause I don't play much multiplayer, but I'm 10/17 in 4+ player games, not counting team games, and I can honestly say that my individual result depended in every case on cards, position, and, order of play, and, in the majority of games, one opponent who was too aggressive, rather than outright "quirky" dice...
