i recently updated my firefox and by doing so i've lost the grease monkey application, when i tried to re-download it i was unable to 'activate' it or install it.

i followed the 'instructions' on how to but nonetheless it isn't working.
i wanted to know if the ajax bob grease monkey is compatible with the newest version of firefox, and if so, how do i install it.
any help? please.

thanks, Pat

Which FF do you have?

If it is FF3 - then I do believe there may be problems with it's compatiblity with Greasemonkey...

If it's FF2 - then GM should still be installed...

Check the bottom right corner for a frowning black and white monkey... if he's there - click on him to bring him back to life!

i'm pretty computer retarded, but i believe this firefox is the newest version, ff3
and there is no little monkey at the bottom right corner.
when i download the script, it saves to my computer, i can't open it though, but it opens in firefox but it's a bunch of text.

i'm guessing it isn't compatible with this version.

ok so i figured out that it is firefox 2.0.0.14 so it's not version 3.
but even after i download the script "greasemonkey" does not appear under the "tools" scrolling menu.

I noticed that under the instructions to install, the photo of firefox is version 2.0.0.11, and not version 2.0.0.14, the one that is now offered on the firefox website

could this be the reason why it won't install? and if so is there a solution?

Pat, if you click Tools > Add-ons, what do you see in the list?

"TALK BACK 2.0.0.11
Sends information about program crashes to Mozilla.

OPTIONS
DISABLE
UNINSTALL"

thats it.

and even if it did get GM got deleted i've re-downloaded it and have tried to install it but it just doesn't appear.

Either Firefox is not recognizing that you have downloaded Greasemonkey or it actually is not installed. The best I can suggest is to try to download it again and write down what happens and post it here.

i click 'install this script'

a window pops up and says:

"you have chosen to open 13076.user.js
which is a: jscript script file
from: http://userscrips.org
would you like to save this file?"

i have the option to

"save file" or "cancel"

so i click "save file"

once the file is saved i try to open it and i get a pop-up that says

"Script: (the location the file is saved)
Line: 723
char: 3
Error: object expected
code: 800a138f
source: microsoft JScript runtime error"

Try downloading from this site:
Link
You should see a pop-up titled "Software Installation". At the bottom will be two buttons, one will say "Cancel" the other will start out grayed out with a countdown Install (X). Then the box should just say "Install". Click the Install button, and it should tell you to restart Firefox. If that does not work, I would suggest finding someone who is more computer literate than I am.

I just want to make sure you know that greasemonkey and BOB are two separate downloads. If you right click on the monkey and click on Manage User Scripts, do you see Conquer Club - Bob in the left column? If you do see it, highlight it. There should be a checkbox that says "Enabled" in the bottom left corner of the window, is there a check in the box?

In Firefox go to: Tools  Greasemonkey  Manage User Scripts - pop up will open showing installed scripts
On the left hand side of the pop-up check to see if "ConquerClub Bob " is present. If it isn't you need to install Conquer Club Bob.
On the bottom there is a check box "Enabled" which must be ticked (for script to work)

I have Fireox 3. Only had to install new Greasemonkey, CCBob was working without any problems with new FF3 compatible Greasemonkey.
Hope this helps

Oh bother, the above post says the same thing

when i right click the monkey and go to manage user scripts there is nothing that shows.
i'm so confused, the first time i tried to install the script it worked fine ad right away, now it seems impossible for me to get it back.

If you see no scripts under 'Manage User Scripts', no scripts have been installed.

Greasemonkey seems to be working, and now:
You may try and install BOB again, ( once installed ensure that it is activated).

Also, after installing the BOB you'll need to refresh the page you are viewing, or new script will not show up
