Do speed games expire if no one joins them for a certain amount of time?

yes. I believe it's 15 minutes.

It was changed a month or so ago:

The speed game remains until all players are dropped out of it.
Players are dropped if they are not active (do not click anywhere) on the site for 5 minutes.

So, if there is only person in the speed game and they are not active on the site for 5 minutes, then the game will drop. In all other cases it should stay active
