This question is not supposed to be based on what your rank is but an unbiased opinion on which rank is elite.

I voted Lieutenant because this is where i find most players take on another level of skill.

I voted major.

I've been stuck on Lt for a long time, and hit capt twice. I don't consider myself a good player at all, and I know a lot of majors that are amazing at ANY game settings. It seems that when you get your swords you are just plain amazing.

None to be exact. Players of any rank can play bad at times. Generally speaking though, you will be hard pressed to find a General who plays bad.

Ever since I started playing here, I've considered everyone higher than me to be "elite". It's all relative.

i consider elite anybody that plays fairly well on any map with any settings, doesn't abuse and manages to have fun.
score or rank doesn't make you elite if that score came from abusing, cheating, specializing, etc.

Colonel has always been the "elite" ranking. Everything else is like "Whats that thing next to your name?"

I have to say colonel since from that point up everyone is a very solid player, and there isnt much difference between someone at 2500 and 4000.

2500 points are a joke.

i can get from 1000 to 2500 within a week or two and i don't consider myself elite.

I voted major because it is one rank higher than I have ever been and my next step. After that I would vote one higher and so on.

yeah I can get to it also pretty easily, but most people currently cant, and thats what makes it elite

to killmanic. specializing in a map or abusing the game doesn't make you elite.

to fuzzy. there are many many ways of doing it.
1. get 2 other players and hunt for triple games started by noobs that have no experience together.
2. hunt for 1v1 freestyle games started by new recruits and other inexperienced players
3. pick a more complex map and learn it to perfection. hunt for games started on that map.
4. play doodle assassin (it won't get you to 2500 but the easiest and fastest way to get to at least 1800)
5. have a secret alliance on doodle assassin games. (do it right and you'll never get caught)
6. classic 6p escalating
etc.

Thanks for the suggestions :)

The thing is that I want to get my points fairly, by not picking on noobs, and not by secret alliances ;)

I used to be decent at classic 6p esc, but people have just gotten to be too good for me nowadays

I may have to try a more complex map (i'm actually having someone teach me AoR later tonight :)), and I also may have to try some doodle earth assassin games.

Thanks again for the advice :D

I know it will take a while, but hopefully I can finally get out from Lt once and for all :P

Yeah true some people abuse maps, but in general without abusing a map not may can make it to 2500.

nope mate it wasn't a joke at all.
it's all about what you play and who you play against.

1500 points at an average of 20 points per game means 75 victories in 1v1 games.
some time ago i played 100 1v1 games in a matter of 2-3 days. i won almost 80% and it could have been a much better win rate if i actually had the time to pay close attention to all the games.

so let's say an 80% win rate. average point loss is 20 average point gain is 20. to get to 2500 i would need ~120 games. totally possible in 1-2 weeks if you know what map to choose.

but i can also do a nice little trick.

start as many games as i can handle without losing the quality of my game. i'd say 40.
of those 40 i'll win 32 and lose 8. that's an 80% win rate.
and here comes the trick. instead of wining the games i'll just hold people captives and not end the game. so i'll have 8 loses and 32 ongoing games where i dominate and can't lose. now i'm down to 850-900 points.
start another 40 games. do the same thing. now i have 64 ongoing games where i'll win and i'm down to 750 points.
now win all the 64 games and i'll be up to 2500 points or close.

one more fancy stuff i can do.
start as many 8p games as i need until i have 15 such games where i dominate and i'm 100% sure i'll win (for example hold all the map except 1 terit)
depending on how good i am, i may be down to as low as 700 points before i manage to get those 15 games.
now end those 15 games and you got yourself to 2500 points.

I wouldn't call that an "Easy" way to get to 2500. If it is for you, then you're probably pretty damn good. ;)

the secret lies also in the opponents you face not just the game type.

play 6p escalating vs wacicha and robinette and you'll lose instantly, find a bunch of new guys that fight like madmen for australia while the cards reach 20 value and you'll see it's easy as pie
i've had a game where one guy was so amazed i killed everybody in one turn he thought i was somehow cheating.
he simply could not understand how a guy with a few terits (me) who did almost nothing the whole game could kill a guy that had a continent

True enough. But if you're going to pick on people who don't understand a game style, why not just make some maps that have game-play unlike anything anyone has ever seen, and play those?

simple.
1. escalating is fast
2. classic is an attractive map
3. 6p games bring plenty of points

Voted Brig. I find a huge difference between "good" and "elite." Elite to me is more premier quality. Colonel players are definitely above average, but I run into significantly more Colonels than other Brigs. I hardly notice a different between that of a Brig/General/Field Marshall. There are many Colonels that are very good as well, but that 3k mark is what separates it for me.
