Can anyone give me tips on what games play similarly to Classic? I think I am really going to enjoy this site and will probably get a membership. Thanks for any help.
you can click on the tumbnails to see an image of the map, all maps have 'legends' on it that descripe what the point of the map is (some maps for example have a so called 'objective' this means you can win by holding 'territory X and Territory Y' on the start of your turn.) some maps have a 'different bonus system' then classic, some of them might even have different 'attack routes' then you might be used too, and some of them might just be plain confusing for new players. don't worry, you have enough to choose from and you can also find a lot of information and help on the forums.
just start with playing the 'classic' type maps (most often the maps of 'the world') like france, europe, world 2.1, and most other maps that are actually maps of continents or countries, als 'middle earth' is pretty much a classic map.
the rest of the maps have most of the time either a 'slightly different' playing style or a 'completely diferent expierience' and some of them might be really easy to figure out while others might require staring for hours at the map just to have an idea of how to play it. and some maps even i don't really play because they are too confusing for me (like battle of actium, it's a nice map but it's pretty much confusing me so i hardly ever play it)
so find a map or a few maps you like, and play them as much as you like. or just stick to 1 or 2 maps. your choice
btw. besides 80+ maps, there are also a lot of settings, like no cards, flat rate or escalating, that might have a big impact on the playing style and strategy you need to win in those games, and there is even an option to play in the 'Fog of War' have fun!
