... call this a free service for Lack if you like, or call it a gut check for me, but please poll in above on what ONE feature of premium is the main reason you would recommend to someone for getting premium.

For me, it's not that you're missing "all of the above", it's that you're missing my specific reason.

After all, there are a few things about being premium that I find beneficial, but none of them were why I signed up. Also, you make the "I had $25 laying around" reason sound like paying for this is not unlike throwing money in the street, which is a convenient angle for somebody who's chosen not to.

Honestly, my biggest reason, and also the reason why I give many freemiums a hard time is that my rationale for paying up was ethical. I understand why CC allows free play, but I also understand that, without enough people paying, it would cease to exist. These things cost money to run and I'd far rather pay up than have them go the pop-up or flashing banner route to take care of costs. So, I do believe that anyone who decides that they enjoy the product enough to keep playing has some degree of moral obligation to not only the guys who run it but to everyone else shouldering the load to pay up.

We've gone around this before. Free membership is the like the snacks they offer at happy hour. You are not legally obligated to buy a few drinks if you help yourself to the wings but you're kind of a loser if you grub out and nurse free refils on a coke. I honestly feel that is the equivalent of choosing to play without paying, provided you can afford the jack. Of course, if you can't afford the jack, you might want to think about your choice of what to do with your time.

So, for me, it was quite simple. I signed up. Joined some games. Thought, "wow, this is pretty cool. $20? (that's how much it was the first year I played I think) That's all?" And paid up.

Just don't vote. Same as voting for all of them, they cancel each other out. :D

Oh, and BTW, what's your reason for not paying?

I mean, tit for tat, right?

Don't want to have games waiting all the time... would never get anything done.

I'm starting to wonder though if it would be worth it for speed games.

Initial responses seem disappointing (only 7!)

Don't know how there is tit for tat? Survey results will be available to management at no charge :D

You do realize that you've played nearly as many games as I have in 5 months rather than 17 despite the fact that I'm premium and you're not.

As for the responses...Perhaps others have also been disappointed with the options but haven't bothered to explain why.

I'm curious about your thoughts on my reason for paying.

Ah, you must have been the sole person who chose the last option.

The idea of the survey, of course, is to force people to pick one item. That could also be used by Lack, for example, if he were looking at whether tournaments help generate revenue... whether the cost of running speed games justifies the return... etc.

And you are quite astute... I do usually have all four games going at any given time. Having a limit is a nice safety stop for me. It's an obvious personality difference between you and I. If I had unlimited games, I'd probably end up playing 100's! I'd probably even pay the $25 bucks with a 10-15 game limit (over that, and there would be an angry woman putting a computer into the dumpster outside my house :( ).

Actually, I abstained from voting.

this survey is a bit useless from a market research standpoint. You should be asking two separate questions, 1 As a freemium user, which option would most likely entice you to get a premium?, and 2. As a premium, which option is of most value to you?

Currently you are asking freemiums to judge services they have never used.
