The new rating system has some problems!

First of all, great site, great fun and great game. All the respect to the people behind this brilliant site. :)

Now to the problems. :o

The biggest problem with the star system are, that people is voting after a game where there has been a lot of emotions involved. People are bias towards the ends of the scale. This means that a lot of people are giving either 0/1 stars or 5 stars. You see the same problem in sites where you have to rate some music or a movie. It does not give a true picture of the scale.
There is no explanation why people has rated as the have. This is a also a big problem. No explanation means that you can speculate for which reason you have been rated, until your hair has turned grey.
The delay does not help paragraph # 2: 5 days after the game has ended, you get 3 x 0 stars! I was full of despair over the rating, and it did not help that it was delayed.
No possibility to defend yourself. Everybody should have a chance to defend them self, EVERYBODY.

Is it just me or is there some kind of truth in the points above?

Best regards,
Denkel
PS: Yeah this is a way to relieve mine mind, after I got a 0/1/1 rating!

Wow, it does, does it?

Sorry, pardon the sarcasm. One of the biggest problems is herein, but I haven't seen the thread on it yet:

# Ratings cannot be altered once the game is archived, but they can still be withdrawn.

So far, since I've left ratings for people mostly on the "3 is average" system, I've had withdrawns from people who had rated me as high or higher than I rated them. If I'm gonna get that consistently, I'd just as soon ask everyone who has rated me to withdraw them all, so I can be a nameless no-rated no-feedback nobody. (maybe I'm just more secure as a nameless voice in the dark, or maybe I prefer surprising people, who knows what oddities lurk in the souls of men?)

Being able to withdraw good feedback after the fact strikes me yet another factor in increasing the noise factor in what should be an information system. As it stands, the system appears to be useless on the face of it.

Perhaps you would be better adding your thought to one of the other many threads about this very same subject.

GD is filling up fast with so many threads about the same subject, maybe one of the mods will tie the whole lot together, so we can have 2 mega threads, one about dice, the other about the new rating system.
