Conquer Club

i see that C.C has 23k + members, but how many are active, meaning playing on a daily basis?
it seems to me that the last few weeks that there have been fewer and fewer new games started.
I'm basing this on my own experience, i'm only in 12 games right now, normally i like to be in 20 to 30 at a time, casual of course.
not that i dont want to play, but when i look for a game very few are showing up. casual and speed.

22983 players have played in the last 30 days, according to scoreboard.
215000+ members belong to CC.

I used to play 30+ games.
Now I only play between 10 an 12.
This week I only had 7 games going.

for instance, last night i click on join speed games and on average 7 games came up to choose from.
This morning i do the same and 6 games come up, since i joined back in december this is the lowest amout of active speed games i have seen.

It is summer, so a lot of folks (myself included) are now cutting back or taking a break from CC.

HOWEVER, I think that a look at the standard acheivementa awards gives a decent guide.

When I looked a few days ago, there were just over 6000 who had gotten that medal. Just now, I saw over 8000. However, in another thread, I asked whether that included just the most recent awards for each person or all... that is, if someone got a gold, would they count as 3 for awards (bronze, silver and gold) or just 1 for player. I was told that each award counted. That means far fewer than 8000 people have won 20 games. I am guessing ... and this is ONLY a guess, it might be around 4000-5000.

So, start with that 5000

You could add to this a few just plain bad players who might have played quite a few games but not won. However, even the worst player will win on occasion due to pure dumb luck. Play enough games and, eventually, you WILL get 20 wins.

The other group are those who only play a few games at a time. Most of those are probably "freemium", but not necessarily. This group would take much longer to get a medal, but would still be "active". They are, I suspect also quite numerous, but more "ephemeral" .. that is they play for a while, leave, then come back. A few are definitely multis, who will eventually be "busted", but I would guess that to be a statistically insignificant portion overall. (important in their impact, but not to the numbers of active players)

I DO NOT have the real figures. I would like to see some input on this from someone who actually has the data. However, from what I do see... it looks as though far fewer than 10000 of the CC population are truly active across several months. And, at any given moment, not all of those will have games every day.

Anyone have the real figures? Is 10000 about right?

What?? That is ANOTHER life.?? Never!!! There is no existence outside CC.

another reason there are less games waiting for players and less games is that in the last update, if yu tried to set up a game and there was one exactly the same with the same setting, you would be prompted to join it, hence lowering the amount of games waiting for players

I understand what your saying, but i disagree, although that is an improvement.
new system and all, the amount of games to join has DRASTICALLY gone down.

but i would like to know if there is a plug in or sometghing to tell what is an accurate # of people playing.

Like an ebay counter, theres a suggestion, i know wrong forum. but y not?

summer or not wheres everyone at? are people boycotting C.C. over the feedback system debacle?

if its just the summertime blues taking players away, then how about a medal for us addicts who play x # of games a week, / per month.?

We always see a dip in the summer time. Right around when weather in the USA gets colder and kids and young adults go back to school in the August/September/October, things pick up again.

You can see an active list of everyone via the scoreboard. To be displayed on the scoreboard, you must have taken a turn within the last 30 days, so it is pretty representative of active users.

thankyou andy, but the scoreboard by tracking 30 days is not really that informative, 30 days is like a lag when you are playing speed freestyle.
some other sites display the # of players in x # of games, or how many are logged in.

I agree that summer is definitely a big contributor to the drop.

BUT, I also think a lot more people are playing private games. I usually look for games using the Game Finder. One day, instead of checking "public", I checked "private" by mistake. I got a couple of hundred games instead of less than 5 for the same game type.

I have noticed this is true for a lot of game types and styles. I still get a lot of different people joining my games ... but I DO think there has been a big shift due to more than just summer.

so on average 10% of the total CC population are active?

I'm not as active as I once was... that's a shame! However I would say that because of 24 hour gaming the number would be much higher then the same old people you see in the speed games! Also, you must distinguish between premium and non-premium... not sure what that'll do!

One other thing to take into account is that highly active tournament players might not be starting/joining regular ol' public games. I certainly can't speak for the lot of us, but I know that at least 95% of my active games these days are in tournies ... and I had over 100 active games not all that long ago. The 58 I've got right now actually feels like kind of a break. People like me may not be starting new games, but rest assured, we're pretty darn active.
