i love 1 on 1's. i don't mind going at any position but if I go first, i do knock on wood for good dice and murder my opponent. If the dice are sucking for me, i play defensive and my opponent will do the attacking and maybe deplete himself which I can use towards my advantage.

i have been playing almost solely 1 vs 1 of late, and i find who ever goes first has a straight out 60% chance of winning...i think i analyse this game too much

Advantage for the first player - A big YES. i play 1 on 1 just for fun. They end fast and no alliances with other players. I don't expect to rise in ranks playing them as the initial drop plays a big role and then the dice factor is always there to screw you.

i think there is plenty of strategy
going first is not always the best course of action.
i'd like to go second against a suiciding guy with bad dice for sure.... and if i go first, and i don't get a good roll, then you gotta turn around and protect yourself from getting wiped out.
i don't care when i go, but i love playing 1v1 because it definitely takes a lot of unknowns out of the game

it really depends on the initial random placement of armies...

Having played a LOT of 1v1 on every map:
First almost always has an advantage, if players are evenly matched. This is more true for the bigger maps with lots of bonuses, like Pearl Harbor, Armastice, etc.
It matters little or not at all in Fuedal and Realms.
However, the drop, skill and dice also play a big factor. A highly skilled player (or getting a very poor opponent) can often outweigh the advantage of starting first.

Buy premium and play speed freestyle 1v1... that's fun.
Cos in casual 1v1 in 99% of maps (excluding Doodle/Duck), the first player gets such a big advantage it's stupid.
