For now, chat uses the Forum Guidelines in addition to normal chat etiquette (No Spamming, No Trolling, etc). Soon, however, chat will have its own specific guidelines in writing.

i'll believe it when i see it.

forum guildlines are for forums, not chat rooms. I will not take the forum guidelines as the rules for chat, as that is stupid, so, there are no rules for chat.
and i can post direct game links in chat as much as i want, and post many many games in social.

ciao.

The forum Guidelines do indeed extend to Chat for now. :) Hopefully you will abide by them, Tom, otherwise we may never see your lovely Madasgascar map. :)

follow the forum guidelines in chat for now, until we get the chat rules published in writing :D

Lack added the tab for a reason, it's not just there for looks.

tom, normal chat etiquette includes not chatting in callouts and not posting games in social. There does happen to be an "etc" at the end of the list. These are implicit in that list. Thanks for playing.

t-o-m, as a friend and clansmate, just use common sense. it doesn't matter if it's written or not, it's called manners, respect, and common sense. use all three and you'll save yourself a lot of headache.

please :)

Bottom line, chat is a free php software (same as forum) If in doubt about the rules treat them as one in the same.

If someone in charge says it's a rule, then it's a rule. It doesn't need to be written down in a specific post. What's the difference between Andy saying that "forum rules apply in chat" here, or him saying it in a post named "rules"? They made the live chat; they have the power to let you use it or not; therefore, you should follow their rules whether or not they are written in what you consider the "proper" place.

hmmm this reminds me of a recuring argument I've had with mods on another game over IRC chat.

Just publish some rules for live chat...it really isn't that hard...

I read that but if they are supposidly exactly the same as the forum rules then why does it need to take so long? =]

OT: yay 500 posts.

They include the forum guidelines, but there are also additions to the normal guidelines (ie. only posting games in Callouts, no social chatting in Callouts, etc.)

There could be a page of additions...doesn't mean it needs to take a long time. Rules are one of the most important things for a site [if not the] so if invisible rules are being broken then it should be made a priority to get them in writing.

Agreed. They are definitely one of the most important parts of the site. That's why they are in the process of being rewritten to include live chat (with specific guidelines). Although it's something that a lot of people (mods and community) probably want released extremely fast, it's something that has to have quite a bit of time dedicated to it to make sure that everything is encompassed (and there are less questions about the rules).
