in defense of those who handled the Classic color changes (i wasn't one of them), it was a far more public process than the current brazil revamp. There were weeks of public discussion around how to make Classic more colorblind friendly and to keep the army counts from blending in with the background, which they did. The Classic changes impacted far more players, and since most never stop by the Foundry when the changes went live it took most by a surprise. And there is sure to be some uproar when a new Brazil map goes live as well.
But getting back on topic, I agree that Classic is a pretty ugly map, and I have said so many times. But a new version of the Classic map would have to supplement - not replace - the old Classic, or else we would indeed have a true revolution on our hands!
And ultimately I agree with the posters who have said that new maps should come before revamps... if a map ain't broke, we don't really need to fix it.

i think he would if it were not the majority vote.
but the best thing to do and the most sensible thing to do in order to maintain the Risk'esque board as an advert, would be to keep the existing board and have a new, 'improved' map option too.

I'm not too keen on having two Classic maps- I understand you're trying to appease the population but either revamp it or leave it alone.

That was in response to Pedro's comment to placate Lack and his need for a Risk-like board as hook for potential members.
For me, i would honestly be ok with an all new map, provided it was to the quality of the Brazil options.. and gameplay was not compromised.
however I can also not see a problem with keeping the old map to run in parallel with a revamp. .... for a pure purist hmm let me think .. someone like Robinette; she could still set-up on Classic and invite players, even if most moved to the Newer one.
There are lots of maps so what is the problem with having another? And then, as Revamps are secondary in importance, work could begin immediately on the NEW CLASSIC....
