Signal Jamming: a worthwhile strategy?

So I'm playing in a Fog of War game, staring at a big bonus on a generally even playing field. The other four players are stockpiling behind their borders, as far as I can tell. I'm making the most armies of anyone by a large margin, but I've also got lots of borders to defend. So I'm thinking of ways to get people to leave me alone, though it might draw more attention to me.

With the Fog, you can see that X armies got deployed to ? and Y armies got deployed to ? and so forth. But if you place them one at a time, there's no clues whatsoever in the game log. There MIGHT be a giant stockpile somewhere, but there might just as well be me bulking up my entire area.

Is this a good way to cloak my movement - "signal jamming" seems to be the term for it - or will the huge chunk of text in the game log just spur everyone to murder me?

I do this almost every turn in every fog game I play (which is the majority of my games) - never had anyone complain.

And yeah, sometimes every 1 goes on a different territory, and sometimes they all go in one place... most often it's a bit of both.

A couple times I've watched you play and seen 5 or more go on one place, one at a time. It's funny to imagine a person doing this on a real board!

I'm with ben on this one. One of the major tricks to foggy games is to limit the amount of information the opponent(s) can glean about your activities. Deploying armies 1 or 2 at a time, even if they all go to the same terit, is just good strategy. Personally I always giggle a bit when I see "Player X deploys 9 armies to ?", because I know exactly what he did, more so than if he'd "signal-jammed" (a turn of phrase I quite like, actually).

i'll also do this with unlimited fortifying when i'm weak by moving the same armies back and forth from the same spots but always in different increments hoping that it appears i fortified heavily. if they're even watching, of course.

5 or more - I remember doing over 30 once!

I occassionally wonder at how worthwhile it is, but then every few turns the "Player X deploys 9 armies to ?" means that I can figure out exactly what happened, and I remind myself to continue deploying 1s.

I used to do this too, but so rarely play unlimited now that I haven't had the pleasure for quite some time.

BTW - I use Clickable Maps which makes it a WHOLE lot quicker.

Yessss isn't it funny though why they do that BaldAdonis, going to one place, [-X :^o and thinking they have a chance when you and your friends that set them up for the slaughter know your going to trash them in say about 5 moves after you jam their communications. It is easy to answer, the fright complex of gathering the herd and the survival complex of historyunderstoodcomplex, thinking you can attack the foe from a different area after they take out your strong points you took from them.

But BaldAdonis it always works out the same way for your friends and you when you and they sit in on a game, complete slaughter of the weaker newbees the thrill of the killing and the steamroll of the ideal male or female the perfect hunter killer human machines?

You should be slaughtered in every game you play. You want to know why? Because the object of this game is to kill everyone else and the objective of everyone who plays it is (surprisingly I know) to kill everyone else. It might be easier for you to blame your loss on Newbie Killing, however let me hazard a guess that you pushed hard early, became a threat, and then got killed. If you're here in the strategy forum take the time to actually read some of these threads. A lot of them are useful, well-written and a genuine resource to new players and more experienced ones. Don't become one of those players who blames their losses on anything other than the fact that they deployed a shit strategy.

Hes saying its not fair to slaughter newbies who have no experaince at this game while you have plenty of experaince at this game. If they join games which have lots newbies on purpose.

That is called noob farming, and it's frowned upon.
