New rating system flaws

Game 2554213, tzneves gave me a 0/1/1 rating and Irrational, Cheap Tactics, Poor Strategy comments...i did nothing for which i deserve zero stars for fair play!!! 1 star for gameplay and 1 star for attitude!!! and the comments...this is so far from a fair appraisal...in fact i helped the person that gave me this appalling rating to fight off a third player who way outnumbered both of us...seems to me this new rating system has been dumbed down so much from the previous rating system that it's too easy for some people who can't string a sentence together to just click on simple insults if they feel like it...can i challenge the rating i got from tzneves from this game?...with this new rating system one disgruntled person can drop your rating so low without reasonable justification that it can take many more games to get back to a rating which is more representative of all the other fairer, more considered ratings a person has received...moderator - please let me know what i can do about this ridiculous rating...i think there should be two ratings, one for average rating a person has received and another for average ratings a person has given...personally i'd avoid a person who had a history of giving extremely low ratings to opponents...tzneves justify your rating in public...if i was whiney i'd question why someone gave me 4/4/4 for this game, but 0/1/1 is just ridiculous...i pay money to belong to this site, and i'm not inclined to pay money for stupidity like this which is sactioned by the site owners

Start by PMing the player who rated you this way and asking why? The conventional wisdom of the new system is that this unjust rating will balance out before long.

The problem with balancing out is that a single one star rating needs a whole lot more 5s to balance out. Also, once the one rating is balanced out, you will come across another person who does the same thing, and the process repeats, making it basically never balance out.
I have the same problem as well with 4 ratings, which drop me by .5 overall. 4 out of 32 people drop me by that much. I have tried sending PMs to the people, but for some reason they never respond, even when the message goes out of my outbox to sent messages section. If a person left a rating like that, do you really think that they are going to be reasonable when you ask them about it? If they were reasonable in the first place, they would not have left the rating.
And do not try to put this in the cheating and abuse section, they will tell you, respond to the rating and try to figure it out with the person. The responding part is okay, but not that many people take a look at the ratings received section to notice it. As for figuring it out with the person, as I said before, not a single one has responded to my PMs so far.

I would say that that would mean 1 of 2 things. Firstly, the punishment for unfair ratings is being banned (I HIGHLY doubt this...), or number two, he was discovered as a multi or banned for some other infringment upon the laws of CC.

dont take ratings much to heart, as with feedback you cant stop the sore losers to miss-rate you, just dont give a .... and go on with your game, and in time the thing will just fade out.

Whoever thought this heap of garbage up, need's to have a pair of well endowed murderers go swordfight in his anus.
I dropped another 0.1 today, and looked to see who i'd pissed off......no bloody reason atall. This guy played a game with klobber, and gave everyone playing a 1 star rating...except klobber (who declared he was 5 starring everyone).
Much as i don't care what my rating is, i want the chance to pee in the coffee of these nuggets who actually use it.
Phew...Rant over

Ha ha, you all must be kidding. Ratings are useless; lack 1 : to be deficient or missing

The Ratings system is as important as score since that is what you see next to peoples names while looking at games. If it is bellow 5.0, do not bother even clicking on the persons profile. Rank is really vague since it gives a 100 - 500 point range. Ratings give less than a .1 range of error!
And think about it: all a high score means is that a person clicked on the right thing during a game at some point in time. A rating means that the person did or did not do something (the something being limited to everything and nothing) that made someone do something else. This means that the score only the decisions you make in a game, but rank is everything you in that game, plus what you say, what you do not say, what you do in the forums, what you do not do in the forums... the list goes on and on. Therefore, ratings cover a much broader aspect of the player.
The Ratings system is perfect as it is now. People had to explain everything they thought in words, which are limited to only several hundred thousand in the English language. While now, they use numbers, and tags to explain the overall, without going into those long boring details that explain their thought about the player.
This is why the ratings system is better than what they had before my time here. Besides, we are better off now than we were living in caves. We are better off with this site now, than we were without it 3 years ago. THEREFORE: we are better off with the ratings system now, than we were a little while ago!

Maybe we could have it automatically drop the top 5% and bottom 5% of the ratings per person. This would help eliminate out layers.

That's a good idea.
