Who should you avoid playing?

OK....the old rating system had pos-negs ; if a player had lots of negs, I'd avoid playing them. But now we have numbers ; at what number would you NOT play somebody; or would you look up all the tags, comments etc etc.? At present I would avoid playing anyone <4.5..
Below what number would you avoid, if any?

That is a very bad thing to do. Pick a number and do not play them. For a person who does not play many games, one wrongful low rating can effect them a great deal. Look at the source before you decide not to play someone.

only short term though chaos we can only hope it gets extended when he returns
but most likely he will just return with his tail between his legs and proper behavior

6 months isn't exactly "short term" if you ask me. He won't be back until 2009.

Not really sure, though I'm assuming recently. There's another thread in the General Discussion about it.
Anyway, I agree that if someone leaves retaliatory ratings, it's just not fair. Obviously if someone has something really bad like below a 4, don't play them, but between 4.4 and 5 I think it's generally safe.

i thought it was just a forum ban and not a game ban

The old comment section did lead me to ban some people peremptorily, but the new system makes it harder to judge. If you are going to look at the number of stars, I would also compare that to the number of ratings. If one person gave a player one star, then it really doesn't mean much, but if a player has 50 ratings, and average below 2.5 stars, I think I'd wonder.
The pre-fab comments are nice, and I think those are worth considering as well.
In all honesty though, I tend to only avoid players that I have actually had a bad experience with, or suspect of cheating. All the rest is really only guess work.

Feedback actually meant something. You could tell at a glance who to avoid. Ratings don't give you sh*t.
