Conquer Club

Now I've thought about whether other people would accept mod-ship or not if offered it. So that is the question. I'd love to hear responses in thread. You have 14 days to respond where I may (depending on responses) go into more depth.

I'm all for community involvement, but I think I'd be most useful doing maps and tournaments. Oh, and the odd comment along the lines of "the dice aren't broken, your strategies are"

Could the mods perhaps speak up as to why they took the job? (maybe another thread.. but it is really only a footnote.)

I became a Tournament Director because Twill held an open callout to the public when he returned and apparently I was the one that folks wanted back in October 2007. Twill asked, and I said yes.

Global Moderator came because coverage was needed after wicked's departure. That's about it. Nothing too fancy about getting the job really.

yes, of course I would again. I love this place, even though not all may agree with me on some accounts, but I am trying to help better this place, as are all the moderators here

Nah i wouldnt do it, im too much jack the lad and one of the boys. Even in work, ive turned down promotions and such!!

tough choice though isn't it... the trade-off between altruism (if that is indeed it's main motivation) and having to temper your personality.
Yes i agree that mods are chosen for their measured and consistent behaviour but it does never-the-less call for no lapses into rants or swearing.. or getting into personal fights ....(aaaahhhhhhh now i see why Wicki went.)

Well, if you're good at something, never do it for free.

I don't know why anyone would want to be a volunteer mod, unless they got points on an IPO, or at least some promise of a future windfall.

I'd definitely do it! I love helping people out and helping a site that I love become better with each passing day!

I said that in case it was not conclusive. So because of the variety in responses I may be making a thread "what would you want in return to mod" lol

Basically they asked, and it seemed like nothing more than what I had already been doing in the C&A forum, so I said why not. As to the cursing rants and whatnot, I usually read over what I am about to post. I have a tendency to drift the cursor over to the big red 'X' at the top of the screen. If you really think about it, just typing out what you are thinking lowers your aggression level. If you take a few seconds before you hit Submit you might just realize that you do not feel like posting anymore. Either that, or I realize that I am in GD or Suggs & Bugs so I can let Fuzzy or cicero handle it.

This needs a two option thing. I don't have enough time and I don't want to be a mod.

i think i would do it if offered, but i would probably have to consciously join less games to have time, lol.

No, I understand why people would want to be mods. I would probably be able to have the time, and I would like to help out the community and the mafia section, and I kinda think I should be a mod here (Due to knowing it quite well, mainly the mafia forum, since I'm there often and such) But no, because being a mod would require working under and with Twill. And that kills any chance/ idea of me wanting to be a mod here

No as I'd rather be a free lancer than a yes man. Also, not enough time.
