Rank. Is it the be all, end all indicator of someone's true skill here at Conquer Club? What about win percentage? Scott-Land recently made Conqueror - congratulations - and caught a little flack for having a win percentage of ~30%. Some said that his win percentage was a tad low for someone who had made Conqueror. A rebuttal was made that Scott's win % is a product of the type of games he likes to play. I know Scott plays quite a few 6- and 8-player escalating games.
I've heard arguments for many different skill indicators. Some swear by win %. They say that someone who wins 50+ percent of their games must be skilled. Then you have the rank crowd. They state that being over 3000 points is a true testament to someone's skill level. I'm sure there are others who could bring in a third viewpoint.
With all that said, what do you guys and gals think is a true indicator of someone's skill level here at CC? Is it rank? Win %? A certain game-type? Or are you like me and think that it is a mix of a few different things? I'd love to hear your opinions.

Are you having fun?
If so you're winning.
If not, go away...

Win percentage is incredibly irrelevant in regards to skill. If points are equal, an extreme high or low percentage only shows what type of games a person predominately plays. If the percentage is very high it's likely the person plays a majority of team games or 1v1. If the percentage is low it means the person plays a majority of 6-8 player games. Winning percentages in the middle suggest a mix of games played.
Points alone also cannot tell the whole story. With most of the high rankers specializing in few types of games, it only definitively shows that they are experts in their particular fields.
At the end of the day, skill level is pretty subjective. Try to rank the top 50 players in CC based not on points or win %, but on overall ability. Such a task would be impossible. Instead it is more realistic to rank players according to game type.

With whitestazn88's posting background, I would crack that is because WS88 thinks that they all lookalike.
But some people might misinterpret that remark instead of the light-hearted quip that it is. . .

The true measure of skill is whether or not there is a "share your views" thread created for you in Chatter Box.

There is only one proof positive way to evaluate someone's ability here... play them. Everything else is an indicator of sorts, but will never be definitive. There will always be people who play a lot more games than others which will skew their win percentage, points accumulated and of course rank.

I would say that a combination of kill ratio, and relative rank (from chipv's script), would be the best way to figure it out. I don't know how you should calculate it, but by comparing those 2 numbers, I think you could find a "real skill rating".

Common sense. Skill. Whatever you want to call it. Some people have more than others.

Like prismsaber already said, win percentage is irrelevant.
An average player that only plays 1v1 games would have a win ratio of about 50% while an average player who only plays 8 player games would have about 12,5%.
50% and 12,5%, equally good players.

Glad to see the BpB's out in force here today.
That shipped sailed long ago, brett. I took those puppies down to the river in a plastic sack and threw them in.

no, that would require you actually doing something with the clan... you abandoned it, so a better analogy would be like when my mom left when i was 3 years old

We're digressing here, azn. What do you believe to be the indicator of a player's true skill?

Well put. Yes, I see how integrity might help show a player's true skill. Great observation.

I have no opinion on the matter- but my win percentage is 36%. Please edit accordingly.
