Clickable maps - useful tool or last bastion of the damned

Postby pm7405 on Sat Aug 23, 2008 9:14 pm

In order to win a freestyle speed game it seems that if you don't have clickable maps you may as well pack the bag and head home.

That being said, are clickable maps simply a part of the progression of CC (ie better technology, faster internet etc make for a better style of game) or are these tools replacing the strategy and art of the game. In other words is the old school style of Risk dead and forgotten or has it simply been improved.

As we have seen from the forums, there has been much debate about the abilities of different players and whether they would have the ranks they do if it was not for clickable maps.

As such, I was wondering what everyone's take is on this subject. Are clickable maps the way to go or the last bastion of the damned?

Should CC remain the pure game it once was where a person’s strategy and tactics were the deciding factors for a game or should we crown the player with the fastest internet, newest version of clickable maps and the most up to date plug-ins as the ultimate CC player?

Ok people lets have your thoughts.

The old school style is same as it ever was - play sequential.

If you're not good enough to play real video games but still want to be rewarded for clicking fast, keep playing freestyle. And get clickable maps. You should know you're not playing the game though.

Freestyle speed always has had a speed factor in it. Whether it's your ability to be fast with drop downs or your ability to be fast with CM. Connection speed affects both. As stated before though, I wouldn't mind a watered down version of CM, with things such as the auto advance button being removed, as well as the auto attack.

I like CM first and foremost for the convenience factor (although it was not by any means the original reason I got it!). Even in sequential I'd be going crazy without them...

true, clickable is just too convenient, I can't play CC without it, it's the way its supposed to be played
