Medals vs rank

Personally I think that medals show experience across all game types... many players with many medals but low rank could pwn u at any setting like Paradice... whereas rank is reserved for the highly disciplined and depends on what game type you like. For instance, klobber has high rank but no medals and he sucks

Medals show depth of experience, while rank shows how good you are at the types of games you've been playing lately (last 100 games, or so). They both tell something, but neither are the be-all and end-all. Take JR24 for example. He has 27 medals because he's played a huge amount of games on every setting, and he has a high score because he's won a lot within his last 100 games. It doesn't mean that he's exceptionally good at everything, but at a glance, high score + 27 medals might make people think that he is.

But he does seem to win...a lot...

Yes, he's very good at a lot of styles, but he's not exceptionally good at ALL of them (as some people might assume). For example, just a week or 2 ago, he was trying to complete his assassin medal collection, and his score dropped down below 1500. I would wager that someone who is "exceptional" at assassin games, and plays the majority of their games in that style, would have a higher score than 1500.

Well, he mainly played 3 man assassins (I think), and the two 8 mans I played with him, he won both of them. I dont know how much luck was involved, but 3 man assassins are somewhat of a toss up on smaller maps.

good players...medals are irrelevant its just playing the proper amount of games to get them
when i played with you the other day kem, you were content to get a kill in a term game and then lose...so does that make you a good term player once you get your gold medal?

Hmmm....medals show alot of experience in the particular game you have won them from! score shows you might be particularly skilled at the game of Risk. Most of the high rankers rely on beating noobs at quads or triples to sustain their points! Others farm (?), others use freestyle with fast connection and clickable maps. Others, just play the same old map (of course a hard one), over and over again!
CC has changed so much since i joined

Well what happened with me was I needed some more medals for all golds, so I started playing only those types of games that I needed. So obviously, since I was able to win at those game types while keeping up my rank, it does make you a good player when you achieve the highest honors in terms of medals.

It means that you're no better than anyone else at other gametypes, and are only a Brigadier at specific gametypes.
If you're trying to say that various gametypes make a good player, you just showed that you AREN'T a good player (although the same indeed), because you lost your "good" rank and became a sergeant.

Do I really have to say it again? I played a certain gametype to get the medals I needed..so obviously if I played every type regularly I would have had them earlier.

ditto. We should calculate medal/games played if we are to access the quality of the player. Even if you are a shit player, you can get medals by playing a large number of games.

still doesn't make any sense. maybe you should try repeating it a third time, because i really can't follow the logic... however, next time use all caps.. when you shout on the "internets" your point becomes that much clearer.-0

yea but you started with like what? 22 medals, prolly in about 7200-7400 games so you took time to obtain another 5 medals or so in 500 games...so your point is kind pointless
