Too long have we listened to the whining, wailing, and blubbering over at the dice complaint thread. There seems to be a new entry about losing a 5-to-1 every time I turn around. I think it's high time we bring forth our stories about how the dice have been unabashedly in our favor. Call this thread the yin to the complaint thread's yang.
I'll start.
Let me set the table. The game is a terminator game on the High Seas map with escalating cards and unlimited forts. I have two cards and two territs; one with one army, and one with nine. Red has three cards and three territs; two with one army, and one with 12. Blue has probably 10 territs, all with various armies on them. More important is the fact that Blue, who takes his turn after me, has five cards for a guaranteed set of 30 armies. I decide that I'm minced meat if I just deploy as Blue will cash and run the board. With that thought in my mind, I decide to make a run at Red. If I get her, then I stand a chance at running the board myself. So, I deploy my three armies on my territ with nine and have a run at Red. The first two territs go without a fight and I'm left with 10 to take her 12. Normally I wouldn't have a go with those odds, but we were all dead anyway after my turn, so I went for it.
The dice gods were with me, as I took her 12 with my 10 and made a set. I cashed it in for the 30 armies, and had a go at Blue. It wasn't guaranteed, as I had to take his 26 armies with my 30, but I was willing to try it after my successful go at Red. I got Blue down to one territ with six armies, and had seven armies of my own with which to take it. Needless to say, the dice were with me again as I took the territ with three to spare. Two more card sets found their way into my fold and, after cashing them in for 35 and 40 armies respectively, I ran the board with no further excitement.
So, there you have it. To sum up, I took a 12 with a 10 and a six with a seven to win the board. Now, let's hear your "good dice" story.
C'mon. Don't be ashamed. I know you have one. Let loose with it.
