Who will make it? Come the 17th of October, who do you think that the conqueror will be?
Will the status quo be maintained, or will a new contender emerge from the pile to steal the big red cherry for themselves?

SJ has potential to hold his spot for a very long time.Scott seems to be on a skid as he went from 5500 to 4750.The number 1 spot seems to be a lock 4 SJ that's my vote. However if both take breaks i believe it possible for me to reach #1

It's true, when people say "my score is crap because I 'play for fun'," they're just making bad excuses. It certainly doesn't in any way explain poor play within a game (which happens to be why I have a low score: I can't play).
But in order to get to the very top of the scoreboard, you can't just play any maps on any settings. You can't choose your games based on "oh, that looks fun, I'll try that this time"... you have to systematically choose your games based on what will, overall, be most likely to increase your score over time. When playing an individual game, you're playing to win that game. But not everyone is here to play the entire system, and win that. Even if I could consistently win games, I wouldn't try for the top of the scoreboard, because that would require not choosing my games on whims like I enjoy doing.
You can get a good score playing games but not the metagame, it just requires some skill. But those shooting for the "best of the best" suffer a significant penalty unless they're willing to play both.

if you are talking top 10, sure... but if you are talking about the first page or the top 100, i disagree... i see a slew of team and standard players that play a variety of settings and maps... just depends on what you consider the top.-0

True, I suppose it's not a real rule. But it probably takes more skill to get to the top page or top 100 while playing a variety, than it does with a system.
Then again, why am I even talking about this? I don't care in the least.

Come on down to the Farmers market this Sunday people! There will be fresh organic question marks, scrumptious noobs, and ripened deadbeats. Get yours while they're plump and ready because as always, there is slim pickin's. Come get you some! Bring the family and you'll receive a free turnip courtesy of your local Farmers Guild!

It's a knee slappin' good time!
