Opponents PMing when game is still active

I just had on opponent PM me complaining that I broke his bonus in a game that is still active. In my opinion, the bonuses don't count for squat because it's escalating 8 player. What's 4 armies when in 2 turns time a cash-in is worth 20-35.

What's the official go and no-go here? I'm not one to PM anyone during a game, but it's a pain in the backside when someone PM's me and expects a response, especially when they threaten to take out the armies I have on the province they want. PM him back saying keep it to game chat, or just start it in game chat?

Of course the bonuses do not matter and this only proves the player is an idiot. Even if the bonuses did matter, it is a good strategy to break a bonus held by your opponent. Just laugh about it in game chat so that he does not get angry at you for not responding, you avoid any connection to secret diplomacy (even though you will be cleared anyways), and the other players will know about it in a way where you are not insulting the player maliciously.

I dont agree with it.However i suppose I can see where they might Pm each other to ask for a truce in which case they still must announce it in game chat

This would be a secret alliance. Everything must be announced in game chat. That means no discussing truces in PMs.

Respond to the PM saying "check gamechat". Respond to the content in gamechat

Of course he would think it's okay ! ffs--

Wall comments during games are equally in poor taste and considered cheating......... just in case you think that's okay as well.

I think this is borderline breach of rules. If you can't offer a truce by PM and announce it in chat when the deal is done, then you also shouldn't be able to threaten to break, coerce, or condition cooperation in a PM.

I disagree with the rule, but it is what it is. I think you could report it if so inclined...

I wouldn't mind a PM during a game like, "Man, you are so awesome... You are just rocking everybody's socks in that game! Can i be like you someday? =P~ "... but a PM about strategy during the game is a no-no IMHO.

I don't really think that it's a breach in the rules, but only because the rules are specifically set to stop only secret-alliances; death threats about active games aren't really against the rules, no matter how immoral they are (which reminds me, I have a few people to PM about their families <_<)

Rule #2: No secret diplomacy

Any form of diplomatic discussion between opponents must be posted in the game chat in a language that all opponents understand. Diplomacy includes, but is not limited to: proposing truces, negotiating alliances, and coordinating attacks. Secret diplomacy can be hard to prove, but if you suspect it you should leave the players in question appropriate ratings. If you feel certain about players engaging in secret diplomacy consider reporting them in the Cheating & Abuse Reports forum by posting a new topic.

What part of NO conversations via PMs or any other method about a game where you are in with opponents don't you guys understand ? It's common sense let alone regarding rules !
