Abuse

I don't know why it is when you participate in a game with others you will get abused. I found this on facebook playing Mafia. With this game that heavily relies on good dice roles I find it quite odd that if I don't go for a certain colour I start getting called everything under the sun. Or if I don't place my men where they want me to place them I get told in no uncertain terms where I can get off. I then get informed I can see why you have only won so many games....see where this is going...to them winning is everything. One mistake and wham they're off.

I could post names every week but I was told by email that all I could do was block them. When I replied and said that wasn't going to solve the problem I was ignored.

I think as a paying customer we should not have to put up with abuse - well even the free members shouldnt have too.

My solution is that I won't read or participate in the chat, but I find it odd that people feel the need to get so mad over a GAME?

I see now that this situation is only going to get worse not better. It seems this site does attract that type of person. Perhaps someone with a lot of time on their hands - obviosuly we are not all like this, but when you have nada to do all day this site is ideal to kill the boredom.

I wonder if instead of us having to list the abusers, if something can be done to get the abusers out quicker.

You're no better, in terms of getting so upset over a game. As it was said, CC has given you a means to ignore said people. You really should use. Game Chat is an excellent form of communication and useful for strategic purposes. Not reading the Game Chat is a bad thing, most of the time. But, remember, not everybody is like this. Might I recommend joining the clan Society of the Cooks? It will help to train you to be a better player, and get your rank up :) Wacicha, the guy who runs it, is extremely friendly and really good at the game, as are the people who help out in the clan. I really do recommend you check it out. If you need help to figure out how to join, don't hesitate to ask :)

Sorry about this, but cc takes a liberal stance on these things. I for some reason do not encounter people like this, or very rarely at least. Simply try to be nice to people, don't suicide or make a move that destroys someone else's chance as well as your own, and put people on your foes list. I am not sure what more to say.

There is an (unsurprisingly) large number of players on CC who have absolutely appalling manners. Most of them are probably teenagers acting out here as an escape from the real world, where their social peak is typically being able to procure booze without being asked for ID. Yet here they have a rank and here they are not a sixteen year old nothing, but a Major .

Don't ignore gamechat! Give as good as you get if someone abuses you as well. Remember that you have as much right as anyone else to play your armies as you want to.

With regards to being a cook I would also suggest playing other cooks and cadets to get your rank up. Even comparatively nice players (like yours truly ;)) have some kind of psychological block about letting cooks take their points as it just seems like they will lose so many more.

There really is no excuse for acting like an arse in games. But in the end, one must consider just how small their real lives must be if they can find any satisfaction in being the big man on CC.

Thanks for the comments - Ive asked to join the cooks to get my rank up. I don't think I'm a bad player - I take risks and sometimes they don't pay off. I also messed up a lot b4 installing bob - as with the new maps sometimes one does get the borders wrong.

Mr Changa you got it spot on. I know from playing past games that rank is everything, winning is everything etc. Small minded dumb people will have tunnel vision and the thing of giving them as good as they give me probably doesn't matter to them. People like this not only think they are right they know they are right.

I think they must remember half of the gameplay is based on the luck of the dice, but when you are that clueless I guess they forget that.

There are a lot of nice people on here too, let's not forget that!

This is wrong.

It's enjoying the game that's important. Winning is an arbitrary and random concept that you ought to learn to live without.

strongly disagree... i try to not allow myself to get into situations where the outcome depends on luck and/or getting amazing rolls. i try to make sure the outcomes of my games are based mostly on strategy and not luck.-0

My god that was deep... ;)

I firmly believe that one can play to win and still act like a gentleman.

Behaving with class is a much forgotten and sorely missed concept that people oughtn't to have learned to live without.

Even on-line...

i'm guilty as charged in saying this a few times in the past(not to you i must say). it's usually nothing to do with not winning, it's being taken out of the chance to win by somene who does not really understand escalatng games. they treat them like a flat or no cards game and go for bonuses big and small and then come a cropper when the big cash-ins start occuring. don't take it to heart, like you said it's only a game and wacicha will teach you how to play escalating the way it should be played. :D

i will offer to play you in a series of games and point out your mistakes to you in a kind manner, so that you will be avoid those mistakes when playing other people in the future. this offer stands for anyone else that has been encountering those same problems as well. I know and have played with some of the top players in a multitude of settings and have at least a basic understanding of the strategies best employed. suffice to say i have never ever been yelled at in gamechat for bad moves in my over 1000 games.

also, you are very mistaken if you believe its half luck. the percentage luck takes in this game is very low when you chose the right settings.
