Serious Business to Alleviate Confusion

Okay, so this is a competitive website, and as such titles and honors are taken seriously by all users. (Obv.)

Therefore, and since this is Conquer Club business (and serious business at that), I demand a point of confusion be cleared up so that I might properly shower the appropriate people with praise and awe.

Who is the true "champ" of Flame Wars?

I do not spend much time in that forum (since, apparently, it is generally reserved for those most elite among us) but just within the last five minutes I noticed something deeply troubling to the stability of Conquer Club (if not the entire universe).

The signatures of both parties concerned claim top honors. (I will not name them in a facile attempt at preserving their anonymity, and besides, to those of you in as much awe of them as I am, you need not read their name(s) to recognize them)

Member #1: Winner of the 2008 Forum Flaming Competion

Member #2: Winner of the King of Flame Wars Tournament, 2008.

Now maybe I am missing something (why I demand answers!). Perhaps there is a difference between "Competion" (is that a German word? I don't know it) and "Tournament". If these were two separate events, please, someone clarify. If they were not, please explain the difference between the two events. (Is it like the difference between a Triathlon and a Decathlon? Or like the difference between Speed Skating and Ice Prancing?)

Thank you in advance for resolving this serious problem.

As I recall, the tournament that both signatures refer to was disolved after the first round, falling swiftly into acrimony and chaos as various losing parties complained about judging methods, unbalanced first pairings, and the fact that they had performed poorly.

In other words, there was never a winner or a champion. Therefore the two parties you have observed are almost certainly peddling mistruths about their own personal 'achievements'.

Shame on them both.
