Classic options

Just wanted to clairify if the current classic map or the other one that was voted are the permanent change

I don't know anything about maps or legal copyright issues but I've read about many good ideas for replacing the map. Hopefully this isn't the long-term solution.

I could be wrong, but I think that this is just temporary. There were a lot of complaints about this map, so the cc team threw a quick map together to see if people preferred that one. Because the one they threw together did not get significantly MORE votes than the current one, they left this one up as the temp rather than going through the hassle of changing it twice. There is a new map coming out, but they are taking their time, just like with any other map, to make sure that it is a good one.

*Edit: It looks like both maps are available, not just the shapes map. My bad, I should have checked before I posted.

I'd actually like to see them stay, not as the replacement to classic of course but as additional maps as options to play.

The latest addition to the classic map series gave me an idea, probably already posted by 10 others, but here goes. I suggest that we have a large series of classic maps with the same underlying game play. For Example:

Political classic with different political isms for each continent, i.e., capitalism, Marxism, pacifism, anarchy, despotism, etc. Each sub territory could be famous proponents of each ism.

Galaxy classic with different galaxies for each continent, with important planets for sub territory.

Gender classic with different twists on gender for each continent, 'nuf said.

Political party classic with different political parties for each continent, i.e., greens, republican, democrat, libertarians, socialist, etc., again with famous proponents.

There are probably at least 10 different maps using the same underlying game that would be interesting.

Maybe a bad idea???

I liked the idea that changed many of the names and some very minor changes to the map itself.

West Coast and East Coast in NA, E Australia becomes New Zealand and a bunch of stuff like that. At least then it is a geographic map but distinctly different from the original classic map. We have plenty of geographic maps so if we can put one together with different maps but the same basic shape as classic, then that would seem to be ideal.
