Is it permanent? I quite like it so I hope it is..

I like shapes better

I like it as well. The thought of Hockney beating up Lichtenstein, or Picasso invading Dali is quite amusing.

I think they are probably both going to stay. That's my guess at least.

Duchamp is weak!

It's an improvement on shapes, at least it has some character. So now I can play sort-of-Classic again. Nicely done.

they were all as bent as a nine bob note. any invasion is going to be one way. one in the pink, two in the Kamchatka.

The latest addition to the classic map series gave me an idea, probably already posted by 10 others, but here goes. I suggest that we have a large series of classic maps with the same underlying game play. For Example:

Political classic with different political isms for each continent, i.e., capitalism, Marxism, pacifism, anarchy, despotism, etc. Each sub territory could be famous proponents of each ism.

Galaxy classic with different galaxies for each continent, with important planets for sub territory.

Gender classic with different twists on gender for each continent, 'nuf said.

Political party classic with different political parties for each continent, i.e., greens, republican, democrat, libertarians, socialist, etc., again with famous proponents.

There are probably at least 10 different maps using the same underlying game that would be interesting.

Maybe a bad idea???

LOL - especially when its an idea that we've been talking about in the Foundry for two days! It's a great idea in my opinion, but I'd say mapmakers should wait and see how things play out before we start making 'classic' maps.

But I'm thrilled to see there are at least a few Classic-Art fans out there. I dig it... it needs a bit of polish, but at its heart it is fun and it makes me chuckle.

One idea would be to have an example of each person's work as the "box" that represents them now. That way, it isn't just boxes that are arbitrarily named.

...actually, on second thought that would probably be a legal nightmare. Ignore the above suggestion.

That would also get a bit messy, along with the legality issue..

But like I said there, any discussion of creating a new classic or hosting a competition is premature. Right now we just have to put our trust in lack and play Shapes or Art. In Lack We Trust.

OK, I dropped my idea there. Doesn't seem to be much discussion going on.

can you clarify that? do you mean with the art work clashing? hmmmm... that would actually be mega cool.-0

I do agree with the legality restriction. Art work is usually copyrighted and not practicable in this case. I suggest many different maps on themes that are not copyrighted.
