Well, I went from 856 to 1605 in 3 days, I suppose that counts. Anyways, the secret is escalating games, and assassin games. Also, it does not matter what map it is on. In fact, it is better to play 1v1 on more complex maps where luck is not as large of a factor for score gain. Which reminds me, I want to get to major again, just got a free slot today.

With 1vs1 games you can get to 1600 easy.

Try playing 1 vs 1 games at 2500+ score ... heck even 2000+ score

What got me from low captain to low major in 2 days. Good advice.

Nah, that's hard. To 1600 is fine. If you got 1800+ you need to have a really good tactic at Waterloo or Feudal war and that kind of maps.

Interesting that the starter of this thread isn't freemium??

It's relatively easy to go up from 820 - a win will give you a bundle of points... getting a few back-to-back will catapault you from a cadet to the dizzy heights of corporal fairly simply ;-)

The real feat is getting to a rank you feel happy with, and staying there ;-) Many people would argue that a Corporal (even a 1st class one) still has something to achieve...

I get eliminated before I even take a turn and routinely lose 10 in a row on the dice but NEVER win like that...I hear the dice should even out....but pheeewee on that. I wish we had a stat tracker for the dice so I could show you how bad my luck has been. Any way to remedy my issues???

Align your expectations more with reality. And stop attacking 3v3.

Seriously though, if you'd like to track your dice, you can get a nifty little script for Greasemonkey (an add-on for Firefox) here.

I make it my aim to gain the next rank in score before the games played give the rank. I fully understand that many people would consider this pretty anal behavior but I enjoy the discipline required in doing so. It found it reasonably easy to make 1600 before 40 games and had a lovely run of wins that took me straight through the 1800 to 2000 barrier up to about 2180 or so. However, achieving 2400 before 100 games will be incredibly difficult, at least with the system I employ, as well as the level of skill I have.

I am afraid to say that I don't have an unusual method that can be easily copied for instant success. Very early (after 5 games of thrashings) I decided that I had a reasonable understanding of 2.1 and focused on that and classic for the first 30 games or so. I started playing on Europe after 30 games. Singles play got me up to 1600 points on exactly 40 games. 8 man doubles games on 2.1 as well as classic and Europe singles got me to 1800 points before 60 games and pushed me over 2000 points as well. Overall, I won a few 8 man singles, a few 8 man doubles and quite a few 5 or six man singles games. All games won bar 2 were played sequentially and all were played either flat rate or no cards.

The point I am trying to illustrate is that rising up fast can be done in this very standard way (no assassin or terminator games, no strange maps on 1vs1) if the player is very disciplined in his game selection. The drawback of this is that the player has to first find a map he can play much better than average on quickly, which might not happen, or he might simply want to play lot's of maps and experiment with it.

I am interested to see if singles play (public games and I usually start them) can get me up to 2400 points before 100 games. I expect I won't be able to do it though I am sure others have and that it is quite possible to achieve.

1 vs 1 is not the best way to win large amount of points... At least for me... I only play 1vs1 with friends, because, if you play a cook, if you win you win 10, if you lose, you lose 40...But, if you enter 8/7/6 player games and you know how to play them you really can get 100 points in a game, and if you lose it's only arround 20... ;) Just think of this

I got to 3000+ for the first time playing mostly 1v1s and stayed there for months still playing mostly 1v1s - that being said there are very very few players with 70+% win rates for sequential 1v1s.

i get to 2200 easily playing 1on1 feudal, but then i hit a wall where the odd lucky opponent plus the odd skilled opponent will take more points than i gain beating all the others.

I play 8 player freestyle, no cards the odd escalating, which keeps me at this point level, so it varies from person to person

Don't join games with cooks. I play 1v1 a lot, and do not play anyone below captain unless I am trying to learn a map.

It's a great way to get back to 1000.
