As far as your original question... there isn't really an average time. A lot depends on the nature of your request. I've had responses to PMs take anywhere from same day to a couple of months. The difference is that the first question was a simple one, and the second one took a short essay to explain. So a lot depends on what you want.
And... don't give me too much credit. It didn't take much time. All the FAQs and guidelines and Help material is literally one or two clicks from anywhere on the site.
And I'm terribly sorry if I come across as slightly negative... but you obviously haven't made much attempt to find your own answers, and I usually find it's much easier to figure out how to solve your own problems if possible rather than post in the forums. Hence my comment.
