Is it just me, or has lastweek been real quiet in terms of 8 player escalating speeds??

I think a good many of the 8 man players have either stopped playing and or retired from them or all together. I can think of many players who used to play them and were good at them, yet do not anymore. Could it be all the bad pub freestyle and 8 man games have been getting?

yep, I used to play them all the time, but I couldn't get higher than 3100 points with them... So I decided to play other gamestyles and look at me now

So in my case it wasn't the bad publicity you talk about.
bytheway, Bruce and Scott can't play together any more, did that reduce the number of 8 mans a little?
And of course, this is a downward spiral. if those games don't get started, nobody will want to wait and so there will be less people joining and less games get started

Why don't you just do what the seq/esc players do? Make a list of people who like them, and message everyone when you start a new game. You'll figure out which times are best by which games start.

Well, I reckon it's because the games have become more and more retarded and less and less enjoyment was involved (at least for me)- personally I didn't give two shits about the "bad reputation", but others' idiocity and boredom can do wonders to motivation when it comes to playing. That and loads of people were blocked from playing each other... pretty sure that had an impact as well- however slight.
I think its a total different set of people that play the 8 mans nowadays... well, Scott still plays, but he endures everything, where others lose motivation and stop.. hehe.
Poo stopped, Buiz, fable, math, KoG, skillerman... most of those who frequently made up the lineup and were best at it (at least when I was playing)... games sort of lost all appeal and fun.

It's the map first and foremost.I can guarantee Classic Map has lost tons of visual appeal to alot of players. If you want a 8 man game now-a-days you should try setting it up on Maddy Map.

I used to play them all the time but I rarely play any speed games anymore. I guess I hadn't thought about it but Prank brings up a good point, I guess I stopped playing them when Classic map died. I didn't realize that, I mean I had slowed down on them long before that anyway. Hmm I kind of want to play one now...those were so fun!

You can always find an 8 man casual freestyle game.I think the Op was referring to Speed games.Alot of players have slowed down or cut back.I have moved more to Quads Casual and play a few speed games a day(mostly Terminator).Alot of people refuse to leave the comfort zone of Classic and try newer pastures. If Classic was brought back today you would see an increase of them once again. I am pretty sure dying is Dying!!!

I don't play many SPEED games. When I do, they are small map 1 v 1. I do, however play 8 person games ... I think you need to clarify.
