increased geographic prowess

Postby owenshooter on Wed Dec 10, 2008 5:22 pm

sooo... was watching Trans Siberian with the old lady the other night... ben kingsley's character looks at photos of a church on a suspects camera during a climactic scene on the train and says, "ahhhh, i know this church. Irkutsk?" and immediately i hear, "I KNOW YOU ARE THINKING ABOUT THE LEAGUE OF DORKS, AND YOU ARE ABOUT TO GET YOUR ASS KICKED." i sheepishly turned towards her and said, "huh? i don't even have the computer on, and brett is covering my turns for the entire weekend. i don't play conquer club, ALL THE TIME! jeez, let me enjoy the movie... and can you back it up a bit, i missed what the cop said when you were yelling at me..." her response, "i'm sorry... thanks for watching this with me... i'm really sorry..." honestly, as soon as i heard "irkutsk" i thought, "it borders tomsk, evenkia, yugra, west sakha and amur..."

anyone else have increased geographic prowess thanks to CC and noticing it seeping into your real life as you watch tv, read the paper, watch the news, watch movies, etc?...-6cd

League of Dorks, eh? Sounds like someone's been reading their Simmons.

I learned a lot about geography from the original board game, but yeah, I do have my CC moments. Like watching the Bourne Ultimatum, there's that whole scene at Waterloo station and I just keep thinking about bombardments.
