Time to make Colonel 3,000

Postby Georgerx7di on Mon Dec 29, 2008 1:23 pm

When I first made colonel it was 2,000 points to get the hat. It wasn't much more to get into the top 100 on the scoreboard. Maybe 2,100 or something. Now the first page is full with colonels. If we want to keep ranks roughly the same, then I think colonel needs to be bumped. Maybe 2,800 or 3,000. What does everyone think.

Does it really matter if the whole first page is Colonels? I don't think it does to be honest.

How many active players were on the scoreboard when you first made 2000, george? Could the percentage of active members above 2500 currently, be close to the percentage of players who were above 2000 back then? Also, there are now a number of new ranks that weren't available before. Wasn't colonel the second highest you could get? Another also, wasn't there a time between then and now, when you needed more than 2500 to be a colonel? I distinctly remember being a captain the first time I broke the 2000 mark.

as soon as you make colonel again, you can worry about the points required to do so... who cares if the first page is all colonels?-0

i dont know, i had 2400 something, and i didnt even get swords. when i had my high score, i remember being a little higher up on the first page, but with all the new subscriptions, and players added, the point standings arent that much higher, except for a few select people.

why does it matter what the first page is full of? it used to be majors.

There's an answer to that somewhere.

I'm sure there are more now due to several reasons, but Colonel/Brig is still relative to what it was back then as they didn't change the required points ( I don't think they did)-- just the icon.

You're definitely a 3000+ player in Seq Esc, now with all your new found medals and skills-- the sky's the limit. Colonel status is just a stepping stone. ;)

why bother when you got players at the top of the scoreboard creating private games and inviting only new recruits to play for points. I wont mention any names.....sigh

almost every player at the top has some scheme being played to obtain points. if you create more icons it is only going to increase the non sense.

As for this tim, you also need a certain number of games played. I think it's 60 for major and 100 for colonel. As for what JR said, I somewhat agree with that, which is rare. Scott thanks for the complement, it is appreciated.

As for the points changing they definetly did. When I left for a year I was a colonel at 2278, when I came back I was a major. I think this was a good idea, I'm just saying maybe it should be bumped again. It may soon get to the point where the skill level that was once a major is now that of a colonel. Now I know rank isn't everything, I've played with some great majors and that's how its always been.

I would just like to see it go back to where colonel is something to really strive for. Or maybe I have to get used to the idea that brig is the new colonel. Anyway, just something to talk about. As for whether it really matters, nothing on this site really matters. Most of us are just here for fun, so I'm not saying that this is a serious issue affecting the world, just something I was thinking about. Thought I would see what everyone else thought.

He's possibly referring to the crossed sword-and-baton motif?

Back on topic... there was a whole thread (or two) about alternative ranks/scores that didn't seem to go anywhere.... As far as I understand it, CC has more important things to worry about than the boundary lines between ranks...

20,000 active players and what, 200 colonels? That's still a pretty 'elite' rank if you ask me.

I know that when I started playing six months or so ago 'Major' looked an impossibility. As someone who is working there way up for the first time, I would say they are just fine as they are.

(There is no bias here whatsoever, of course.)

Why fix it if it isn't broken? On the scoreboard your rank is the number to the left of your username, those symbols are just a pretty bonus.
