I think people can do eye transplants as well.
I wish they did. I'd totally get in on that. I have terrible vision.

natty_dread wrote:Artificial eyes have been done. That's pretty awesome - they connect a small video camera to the visual cortex. They don't give as good vision as real eyes, but for people who are totally blind they sure are an improvement.

I've heard about stuff like that, I think they give decent peripheral vision, but if you are just a little nearsighted or something, I think Lasik is still the way to go.
I'll be impressed when they can do that Minority Report stuff.

Exciting stuff for nerve regeneration!!
http://www.cam.ac.uk/research/news/first-randomised-controlled-trial-to-show-spinal-cord-regeneration-in-dogs/
tl;dr Paralyzed dogs were implanted with a type of olfactory cell (cultured from themselves) which facilitated regeneration in their spinal cords, allowing to regain use of their legs. What's so great about this is that the dogs' paralysis wasn't medically induced by the researchers, these were all dogs whose injuries came about naturally. Awesomesauce.
