The Cool Kids Calendar

Postby rdsrds2120 on Tue Apr 23, 2013 7:15 pm

By cool kids, I mean people like Mets and Haggis :P (and some of you other folks, too!)

On Dooby Brain, you can purchase perhaps the most interesting Calendar I've ever seen: The Units of Measurement Calendar.

Just the other day my roommate and I were saying we should get tattoos of conversion charts, cuz I can't for the life of me ever remember how many ounces are in a cup, or cups are in a gallon, etc.

No worries. It's a dumb measurement (fluid ounce is a volume equivalent to about 30 mL). I for one would be happy with the metric system becoming standard here in the States.

Hate to be the law abiding citizen but a "liquid" ounce is one serving of alcohol, shot glasses used to be one ounce. As mentioned 1 US fluid ounce is 29.573 ml.

Like everything, we consume to excess, therefore shots and those miniature single serve whiskey bottles are "2 units of alcohol" typically 5cl.

Depends where you drink. Someplaces have polices. "At least x-amount alcohol per drink." other places have bar tenders that are quick pouring. Where they make the drinks so fast there's no way they're filling the measuring shot glasses.

Are you supposed to print that thing on A0 paper for it to be legible?

edit: it is kind of cool though.
