North Korea puts US Missionary on trial,

Postby muy_thaiguy on Sat Apr 27, 2013 10:35 am

for an "attempt to overthrow the government of North Korea." A crime that could easily net him the death penalty. Apparently being a tour guide and feeding orphans means your a "violent terrorist hell bent on bringing down the government" in North Korea.

Granted, this is probably to try and blackmail the US into talks so that the North doesn't have to stop it's nuclearization.

As an American what kind of guns did he have when the apprehended this threat to their national security?

I'm not racist but you must imagine the concern good people would have when filthy white devils come to steal their children.

Maybe a super soaker for guns.

But the guy is actually of Korean descent, so there goes their "white devil" excuse the North likes to throw around.

He's from the Washington State area but has been working/living near the Chinese/Russian border (apparently right next to North Korea) and visitng a North Korean village to feed the orphans there.

He may have had a clock on him, and wearing a couple of socks, but I don't think he had any glocks on him.

Luckily they can say he did since he's American.

So, if I may ask a serious question. Regardless of the motive would entering a territory where simply being a Christian is punishable by death a good decision?

Follow up. When he makes it out relatively unscathed who gets the credit?

According to official books, freedom of religion is allowed. According to everyone whoever escaped from there, you can go to one of the camps or be killed out right for it. I'm guessing he went to the village to help the orphans but he could not, in good conscience, leave them alone. Granted, it got him captured, but still.

Not sure how unscathed he'll be. The spokesperson for North Korea said he had "confessed" to "plotting a coup". Either the North is lying through their teeth (not too hard to believe), or the guy was put under torture in order to confess to something he did not do.
