I'm of Irish descent. Of a former Fenian (no, he never took up arms in Ireland) who fled Ireland during the Potato Famine. Who ended up homesteading in Nebraska. Ended up settling in an area that had another Irish family that his family had gotten along with and had lived nearby back in Ireland. The two families eventually became connected through marriage, and badda bing badda boom, turns out I have a big ass family I didn't even knew existed until 2 years ago (one branch of them has about 200 members in it spanning about 3 generations).
Another branch of my family seems to be Welsh, from the best that I can tell. Need to ask the family historian on that side for more information next time I see her. And throw in a bit of German as well.
For my father's side, no freakin' clue. Never met him, don't even have a pic or a name for him. Mother left him before I was born.
Sounds to me like you're of American descent.
