Right or Happy?

What do you prefer to be, be Right or be Happy.

I suspect most of us would prefer to be happy, but I think also that most of us go about our days trying to be right most of the time

Being right makes me happy.
Being happy doesn't make me right.

I choose being right.

i'd say right. even though it makes me a lot less happy, i think i'm capable of changing things and making others happier.

most people would say "happy" though, and for good reason.

you may have formulated your question wrongly. Happyness and being right are two terms who are too interconnected.
You should formulate it like this imo:
What would you prefer to be?

Being right but being scolded by everybody else for thinking differently
Being wrong but being accepted and liked by others
I can't choose

I pick happy with the caveat that I don't mind if I'm right or not whilst being happy, I do mind about being wrong (as in no delusions or fantasies because that's false happiness) - and yes you can be neither right nor wrong about something.

only an idiot is happy at being wrong. mainly because they think they are right. so id rather be right than an idiot. which would mean my happiness is based on reality. happiness follows rightness on so many levels. its too easy to be happy when youre right to not choose being right over happiness.

not being an idiot means knowing that, even if you think you're right, there's a possibility that you're wrong and you don't realize it.

idiots get to live in blissful ignorance of this fact. how is it easier to be happy when you're not an idiot?

Seriously though, I meant to let it open that way.

Because some will say that being right doesn't exclude being happy and viceversa.

But if you pay attention, everyday one gets to decide in many situations to give up being right in order to be happy. In relations, in the world outlook, etc.

I used to care about being right. Eventually I realized it's all bullshit and none of it matters. Eat, drink, and be merry, and don't sweat the small stuff. Nobody ever went to their deathbed saying "I wish I had devoted just a little more effort to explaining to Player how unintended consequences work!" But a lot of people have gone to their deathbed saying "I wish I spent more time drinking beer and slamming the pepperoni to the ol' lady!"
