This might more correctly read "an overwhelming majority of readers of the Daily Telegraph," a conservative newspaper.

an on-line poll conducted by the Daily Telegraph ... the unscientific poll

:x

but I know. It is what it is. One question though, is the DT right leaning? At least what passes for right leaning in the UK?

Claiming that an online poll reveals the opinions of a certain nationality has to rank with one of the funniest idiotic things I've read in an article.

Pretty much everyone does that (others use landlines, and how many young people have a land line?). It's survey data. It's not great, but it's something.

Furthermore, just because some people who claim to be Christians, or claim to follow the bible, do horrible things, doesn't mean the bible is horrible.

If you compare the bible with the Koran it's actually quite simular, however, the bible actually promotes peace. The Koran however does have plenty of verses that promote violence, especially to nonbelievers.

It can be argued that god himself did kill millions of people, and the Israelites also committed genocide against the folks of Canaan, however you'd have to look at the context of things. The people that were killed by god, or died in wars approved by god were truly horrible persons that for example sacrificed their own children to demons by burning them alive on huge statues of their deities. Archeological evidence of those mass sacrifices can be found all over the place in that area.

Besides. Would be pretty weird to allow death penalties by the government, but be angry about punishment by the highest ruler himself.

Except online polls are quite explicitly open to a completely international audience.

The same is most assuredly true of many other groups, and yet I seem to consistently hear some Christians railing about many of those other groups...

Actually, the Koran is the most peaceful of the 3 "bibles" for the Abrahamic sects. It bored me silly. The Christian bible was so much more fun.

But of course people twist things to suit their points of view.........

so, any poll online is invalid? That sounds idiotic to me too. Even more idiotic that you have to point that out when it already says it's unscientific.

He didn't say that. Why do you have to try to mischaracterize everything someone says that you disagree with? He very clearly said that regarding "the opinions of a certain nationality" it wouldn't be accurate. And he's right.

It shouldn't, but I'm not surprised that it does.

It's not just unscientific it's that an online poll kinda by definition can't reveal the opinions of a certain nationality. Do try and keep up.
