Because the Greek word for "Christ" translates into Christos in the Latin. You are claiming that the word Chris translates into Christ in the Greek language? Correct?

Well, give it a try then. And see that you are incorrect. If anything, you probably think Chris is short for the Latin word for Christ, Christos. Hence, detecting the Latin for Christ. But continue being dense and making up meanings for words.

I'm not sure what you mean by this. "Chris" is Greek in origin. I'm still unsure why you think I should google it in Latin .

Sym, patches is schooling you in philology, man. =)

You could argue that the Chris that comes from Christian takes its name originally from Christ-followers, but none of them are saying they are actually Christ (although they are the body of Christ, which is distinct but potentially confusing).

But what about this guy?

Really? His argument is that I should take an English name, derived from demotic Greek, search for it in Google via modern Greek for Latin origins, and find that it doesn't translate to a Hebrew term.

I guess he has a point, but it's pretty much an irrelevant one.

Is your cousin a gal or a guy?
