my understanding is that there are fundamentally different vowel sounds between american and british english. it's not just "derp the UK is so diverse so there's no such thing as british english"

is there anywhere in the UK, for example, where natives would pronounce my name "jahn" with an "ahh" sound, as it's pronounced in the US?
