Newsflash. Magic the Gathering is dead. Not really, they are still publishing sets, and I am sure they are still playing. I went to go look at the Wikipedia page for the next set coming out. Then I noticed that the last set didn't have a page yet. Ergo, death of magic. See ya later, it was fun while it lasted.
Power creep killed the game. There were rare cards in Exodus which in M11 had strictly better cards (say the same effect for less mana) that were commons. A deck from 2007 can't compete with a deck from today. Never mind a deck from the 90s (not counting the banned cards obviously).
What are your favourite MTG memories?
I liked a mode my friends and I did. We did a sports-style public draft for our decks, and we all shared cards. So if I picked a card, they knew what I had and we went around in turns. We got our cards by buying big boxes of commons and uncommons off of collectors for a buck. I liked using really specific things that no card referenced, like banding and shadow.
