No, he thought of the neck thing after it was determined that he'd lost the bet.

medefe, why don't you tell us?

I kinda forgot about this thread and didn't think I'd have to spell it out. Besides, I sort of did say how the person in question managed to save himself.

"I know who it is, and I know how he managed to save his neck."

It really boils down to "ok, you can have the head, but you're not allowed to damage my neck." After much debate the other gods decided that he had a point and since no way of removing the head without damaging the neck could be devised, Loki got away with it.

IIRC it was after shaved Thor's wife's head while she was asleep (for the lulz) and had to get some damn nice presents to apologize. He got them but on his way back he came across some dwarf who was working and just had to go "I bet you can't make anything better than what I've got here".
You can pretty much figure out the rest from what's been said so far.

Kind of harsh for one simple practical joke, no?

so he wagered his head on the condition that his neck not be damaged? :|

could've just frozen him and removed the head via laser or something

No in the mythology Loki went to two dwarf gold smiths and paid them to make Sif's (replacement) hair... they had extra gold and made two more gifts for the gods... Loki being greedy decided to go to the elf gold smiths (rivals of the dwarfs). He showed them the dwarf's craftsmanship and wagered that they couldn't do any better. Now the elves according to legend are very prideful and took great offense to this and said that they wager their very heads that they are better craftsmen and they would let the Asir (sp?) decide who was the best. From here I figure you can guess the rest of the story.

You should read some of the stories from Norse mythology, they're very interesting... makes you wonder how they (the vikings) came up with these tales

You should read some Shakespeare and then you would see "something along the lines of The Merchant of Venice" a deal involving flesh but was determined invalid since it involves blood is pretty well "along the lines".

It never ceases to amaze me just how far people will go to defend their core beliefs.

never been big on Shakespeare but "Merchant of Venice" is one that I don't remember covering back in my school days... might give that a read. Though I think I can guess how that ends ;)

OK he grabs a marble and throws it out the window or swallows it or sticks it up his arse or something so they cannot check it and have to look at the remaining marble.

he picks one marble and swallows it then take the other marble (which is black) and shows it to the audience to prove his point; "the other marble is black, so I must have picked the blue one"

he accidently make one of the jars fall and when the jar hit the ground and breaks and the black marble inside it rolls on the ground he points the other jar with his finger.

he severed one of his own blue eyes and showed it to the audience, the audience falls for it and think it's a marble

The prisoner is a smurf and quickly cuts off one of his own testicles and does a sleight of hand trick...

ouch! I'm not sure if the audience would be stupid or the man is just a lunatic (or a combo there of)

the third marble is a real marble
