Well, its official. Wyoming is now looking for a new head football coach.

If only the playoff was this year. And if only it was slightly bigger.

This season and these Conference Championships are pretty close
to a playoff eliminations as the mighty have fallen.

Florida State has looked good all year and it's hard to imagine
anyone beating them on a good day. But as Saturday's games
reminded us, anything is possible.

Well, here's a shocker. Boise State's head coach, Chris Peterson will be the new HC at Washington. Just broke this morning.

That is a surprise, since I thought Washington was doing okay.

Right now I'm curious about the recent arctic blast and winter storm
effects on a few of the big Saturday games that aren't indoors.

How about Bowling Green up 40-20 against NIU (MAC title game) with about 8 minutes left in the game?

The 47-27 Final is a surprise, but BGSU's QB was nearly perfect.
Tied at 7 in the First Quarter was as close as Northern Illinois got...
Matt Johnson was 21 of 27 for a career-high 393 yards, connecting with five different receivers for scores and no interceptions. Travis Greene had 133 yards rushing to give him 1,555 this year, surpassing the Bowling Green State's single-season record set by Fred Durig in 1951. Greene had a 16-yard TD run to make it 47-20.

#19 Louisville need overtime for the second year in a row to beat Cincinnati in the Ohio River Rivalry. The Cardinals came back in the Fourth Quarter to regain the lead with just over 2:24 to play before the Bearcats kicked a 26 yard FG to send it into OT with 7 seconds left.

The Overtime Cincy loss gives #15 University of Central Florida (10-1) it's first American Athletic Conference Championship and first BCS Bowl bid.

Big day for the BCS Bowl selections today. Even Rice has a shot at a Conference Championship (and um... Duke too).

Auburn vs. Florida State for the national championship! I'm going to predict now that Auburn wins it comfortably, and for the 5th straight year, the winner of the Iron Bowl goes on to win the National Championship. :)

Auburn can run, but Mizzou and Auburn both have MWC defenses it seems. That's not a compliment. Florida State though, seems to have a great combo of a great offense and stonewall defense.

Fresno State outlasts a very depleted Utah State team, even after knocking out USU's back-up QB (helmet to helmet was missed, and knocked the kid out and off his feet), 24-17.

In other news, Wyoming hired North Dakota State Head Coach Craig Bohl to be the new HC.

It'll be interesting. MSU and OSU proved to be fairly evenly matched in that game, OSU might have actually been the better team but MSU was the team that came out of the gate ready to play and that made all the difference. So Auburn continues to not only help themselves but get help from elsewhere to go to the NC. Personally, I think FSU might be the better team this year but with all of the luck that Auburn has gotten (they are only a few plays away from having finished the season 7-5 and two miracle plays from being 9-3) it's difficult to root against them.

Only if you're a SEC or status quo person (no offense Strike). Personally, I hope Florida State stomps Auburn in the game.

This is another year where I really don't care about the title game, and probably will end up doing something else that day.

I thought the referees had too much impact on the Big Ten Championship. If the SEC Championship had those kind of calls Missouri might have prevailed.

Michigan State's first possession should have been a 3 and out, but a ticky-tack pass interference call --no push or grab and overthrown pass-- gifted them a 1st down. Same drive, there's a second pass interference penalty --flagrant this time-- as the same Buckeye defender chucked the receiver out of bounds with the pass in the air. Problem here is the pass receiver took exception to the hit, runs back onto the field and hits the defender in the back of the head. The Ref standing there separates the players but no flag is thrown.

Late in the game with Ohio State now leading, the same Buckeye defender is in a better position than the wide receiver running down the field --no grabbing or pushing-- and is flagged when the pass receiver tries to reach around him to get to the ball. It should have been a no call. BUT if those kind of calls are being made the Refs can't allow the Michigan Receivers to push off defenders down field to get separation and they probably needed a reminder that there is also Offensive Pass Interference.

But hey... Ohio State came charging back, took the lead running right through MSU's #1 defense and was on the march again, when they got clever and took a shot deep. (It was close and the way the Refs were calling the game could have been flagged). But basically the Bucks stopped themselves, the Spartans sorted out their defense and OSU lost their momentum.

It was a good game and a hard fought win for Michigan State.

Actually it's only one miracle play, Georgia outplayed Auburn in the 4th Quarter, had the lead and the game in hand. The Tiger touchdown that followed was a fantasy come true on Auburn's last chance hail mary from their end of the field... and they still had to survive two shots at the end zone as time expired when the Bulldogs mounted one more drive in the final minute.

The play that ended the Iron Bowl was no less shocking than the 99 yard touchdown pass that gave Alabama a 4th Quarter lead. Without the FG attempt return to win it, there would have been a nail biter of an OT.

Florida State may be the best team in the country, but this hot Auburn team should make it interesting. The Tigers attitude and style of play makes them easy to root for.

The Rose Bowl is Michigan State/Stanford? I'd love to see the Ohio State Buckeyes play the Alabama Crimson Tide in a Bowl Game.

Auburn drives for a touchdown on it's final possession to regain the lead 31-27, but Florida State answers with a drive of their own and scores with 13 seconds left.

34 - 31 Final

Auburn outplayed FSU on defense. They outplayed them for a good part of the game on offense. The difference came with FSU playing much better special teams.

Well, that's one way to end the BCS era. FSU ended the SEC's national title streak. Come to think of it, Bama got knocked off by Oklahoma and Georgia got knocked off by Nebraska. Seems like the powers that be of the SEC might be beginning to slip, with others rising perhaps.

Still, hard to call next year a Playoff format, when its only the top 4 teams (Oklahoma proved it should be 16 teams, all conference champs and then at-large bids to finish it off).

Now, onto the NFL combine and draft! Wyoming has 3 players that are looking to be in the draft. A safety whom I thik will likely be in the 4-7 rounds, a perfect slot reciever with legit 4.3 speed, and a QB who is rated #8 and is said to be a Johnny Manziel like player, without the baggage.
