Repeal Mine-Free School Zones

Postby mrswdk on Mon Jan 13, 2014 11:50 am

So there's been a lot of gasbaggin' on here recently about the 'right to bear arms' and the need to repel armed assailants from our schools. The problem with putting marksmen in charge of our children's safety is that marksmen are prone to making mistakes - from shooting themselves in the feet during gun safety demos to simply being too poor a shot to stop their deranged target.

It seems, then, that a school marksman is no guarantee that our kids will reach adulthood safe and sound. To deal with this, I propose that the 'right to bear arms' is finally realised to its fullest: school mine fields.

Imagine this: your local school is surrounded by a mine field. When the kids arrive, they cross the minefield via a drawbridge. At 8:30 (or whenever school starts) the drawbridge is raised. Armed socialist pedophiles now have no way to enter the school without becoming a million tiny pieces of socialist flesh.

I'm not prepared to tell the mother of my kids that her precious Bai Jiu died at school today because I let the Liberals take away our mines - are you?

I wholeheartedly agree with this. No one would be crazy enough to attempt to enter a school with the intent to kill if they would likely trigger a landmine on the way in.

And who cares whether the rest of the international community condemns the widespread availability and use of landmines? Think of the children.

As long as we have taxpayer dollars paying for this, I'm fully in support.

Fool, terrorists have been practicing mine identification since at least the 80's.

Actually though, personal use of land mines has been banned inside the U.S. for a long time and criminals still have widespread access to them, so perhaps this is a fool's errand.

Also, I insist that I be allowed to plant land mines in my yard so that I can be protected in the event of a government take-over.

You mean attempted take-over. Those land mines are your passport to freedom from tyranny.

A question

The 2nd gives citizens the right to bear arms.

The laws passed at both federal and state level then limit or outright prohibit certain types of weapons from being allowed for ownership or use by the citizens.

How do the courts decide if a weapon is protected under the 2nd and allowed and which are not? What criteria do they use to work out if Billy Bob can own a samurai sword, a pistol, a rifle, an M16 or a bazooka? What criteria do they use to decide if Billy Bob can carry around any of the above, either as concealed or obvious carries?

A weapon has to be "in common [civilian] use at the time" to be protected. A machine gun, or a bazooka, or an atom bomb, or a prototype gun that fires angry kittens, or a gun that has a braille interface so blind people can shoot, can all be banned since none of those things are in common use.

So if we load up a truck with mines and start dishing them out left, right and center then they become 'commonly used' and thus protected?

So when do we repeal drug-free school zones? I wanna go back to High School and get High, Schooled.
