I took my computer to the shop to get fixed yesterday, and they made a concerted effort to persuade me that it would be better to buy a new machine than to try saving the old one. I haven't made a firm decision on that, but I did learn one key fact: for the next six months it will still be possible to get new machines with Windows 7 instead of Windows 8. After that, the window (no pun intended, lol) of opportunity will close and you will be stuck buying the 8 shit.

I recently just purchased a spankin' new ultawidescreen laptop -- my old laptop, though still functioning, was suffering on the video card and memory, and I wanted to make sure I had Windows 7 going forward for the next few years, plus some better hardware.

I had a 17" screen laptop. I will never get another one that big. Too heavy and awkward. Was a pain to fly with, etc.

They're big and awkward, but it sure is cool for watching movies and doing anything on if you don't have a larger screen nearby! A few years back I was shopping for a regular 15.6" laptop and ended up buying an 18.4" laptop on Ebay...it was a good deal, what can I say? lol I've been really happy with it.

So after a month of not using the Metro interface, I figured I would try out some of the things it does and I went to look for apps for it. You can't download apps without a Microsoft account. In other words, the entire interface is useless and so is my computer.

Ragnarok has been cancelled. Apparently the Aesir are fed up with Marvel Comics taking liberties with the paths to the Nine Worlds, and have moved off to find a Tenth.
