Art

A cleaner has mistakenly thrown away contemporary artworks meant to be part of an exhibition in southern Italy.

Works made out of newspaper and cardboard, and cookie pieces scattered across the floor as part of Sala Murat's display were thrown out.

Lorenzo Roca, from cleaning firm Chiarissima, said the unnamed cleaner was "just doing her job".

I can't fucking stand those types of people that consider Pollock paintings and everything similar to that "art". I think we've come to a point in civilization where artistry is so vaguely defined, combined with the fact that the population is not only much larger but has so much more free time that anyone who shits on a canvas is considered an artist.

Art died with Picasso (I'm only using him because he's really the last artist that I consider...any good).

Fact is... you don't know shit about Art AoG and it would probably do you a lot of good to get a little culture. Knowing the name of one famous artist is a good start, but if you really knew Pablo Picasso's work, I doubt you'd have much genuine appreciation for it.

It seems this cleaner has a keen aesthetic eye
and is a harsh art critic.

I know TONS of artists. Pretty much every impressionist and surrealist. I only said Picasso because he's the most recent artist that I actually enjoy.

Wow, that was some serious protesting. Do you work as a cleaner to help pay your tuition?

If the curators and critics did their job better
the cleaner wouldn't have to.

Yeah, modern art is pretty crappy. If you get too many subsidies for college education, you get too many college students with art degrees, thus too much garbage art. Good job, world.

"most recent"

Thus that means I think all artists since Picasso are utter shite.

Yeah, pretty much this. Being technically doesn't really mean anything nowadays because everyone can be technically good (especially with modern technology). Similar to how everyone can make their own songs now.

I don't like anybody since Donatello.

I was only partly joking. The grand frescoes of the Renaissance really are my favourites.

If by modern technology you mean a large bank account and checkbook? Yes. People have always been able to make their own songs. It's the good ones that are rare and technology doesn't fix that.

Not really. I listen to random.org sound files. That's good music.

Technology isn't generally the reason for good music,
but it definitely has improved recording & playback.

His final statement fits well with our times.
