Cold War 2.0

Postby DoomYoshi on Tue Sep 09, 2014 11:10 am

http://freebeacon.com/national-security/russian-strategic-bombers-near-canada-practice-cruise-missile-strikes-on-us/

Two Russian strategic bombers conducted practice cruise missile attacks on the United States during a training mission last week that defense officials say appeared timed to the NATO summit in Wales.

The Russian Tu-95 Bear bombers were tracked flying a route across the northern Atlantic near Iceland, Greenland, and Canada’s northeast.

Analysis of the flight indicated the aircraft were conducting practice runs to a pre-determined “launch box”—an optimum point for firing nuclear-armed cruise missiles at U.S. targets, said defense officials familiar with intelligence reports.

Disclosure of the nuclear bombing practice comes as a Russian general last week called for Moscow to change its doctrine to include preemptive nuclear strikes on the United States and NATO.

Is it coming? Are you ready?

May, 2014. US holds nuclear drills not against Russia but yeah really against Russia
http://www.stratcom.mil/news/2014/494/G ... htning_14/

USG does this in response to Russian drills earlier in May--but not really in response to Russian drills, but yeah really in response to their drills.

Drills within drills, son.

(How wasteful is all this?)

One of these days somebody really will push too close to the limit and we really will have a war.

Fucking idiots.

I don't expect any major wars between major state actors in the near or even mid-term future. Big guys like battles with smaller states or non-state entities.

Finally I agree with something you say... you can add "I dont think any countries with nuclear capabilities will collide in near future... reasons are obvious :)"

I was trying to find the episode of Vice News that hung out with the Norwegian Special Forces 'patrolling their border' with Russia. It shed a lot of light on the issue of who claims to own the North Pole; Russia claims 53%?! Obviously that foreshadows a lot of showdowns and military flexing. Also it was somewhat surprising to see the dead seriousness of Norway when it comes to Russia/Putin and how they handle their border.

No one will use their nukes. The way they horse around with these drills is laughable.

Seems like Recession 2.0 is rite around the corner... and European countries will be the only ones that will suffer the most at the beginning. On top of everything EU is already in recession.
EU/US increase their sanctions for Russian financial/military sector and Russia will most-likely return with ban on EU/US car manufacturers, and ban for US flight companies.

Whats interesting is that Russia will ban most of EU/US products that they dont depend on or they can get it from other places, and some of those products might be banned for life.

If for life, you mean a mostly short duration with an eventual end, then yes.
