Naval gazing

Some say it is a hobby.
Others a sport.
Some people look forward to "Fleet Week" in NYC every year. (May 20-26 2015)
Still other people prefer the submarine races which has nothing to do with Fleet Week.

What do you think?

These boxy pigboats of the modern era do nothing for me.

Give me the sleek lines of the Bismark any day.

Did any of you naval gazers realize that the US is paying 3 million to scrap Connie?

Yes, especially as I run a fictional nation state (from the simulation game "Nationstates") where the back story is that the island nation, located in the Galápagos Islands, used to fund its navy by "decommissioning" vessels during the 20's that needed to be scrapped because of naval treaty. (After the admiral got to sail around in it for a few years, mind you.) The profit margin on that vessel is MASSIVE I TELL YOU.
