So, today Facebook blocked my account

Postby Mr_Adams on Mon Mar 02, 2015 10:16 pm

For using a "False identity" which is "Against terms of use", and I can "appeal the decision by contacting the administrative account".

I'm using a legitimate name that I go by. So screw them and their stupid rules. I've now retired my Facebooking days.

Anybody else ever have this happen?

Well, I looked up the issue online, and other people who have had this happen have funny names, like one woman with the [totally awesome] last name Ballsy. I can see them thinking this is fake. I, on the other hand, had a name (albeit not my first name) that isn't that outlandish. So, either they know who I am, in which case I think they may know too much already so I'll stay away now, or they can piss off because their system is stupid.

Have you tried contacting the administrative account as they suggested?

Nope. Facebook has been doing stupid shit for a few years now, and I've decided this was a good point to ditch it.

The people of the world would be happier without facebook, it would seem.

God bless those who strive tirelessly to defend their citizens from facebook's benign influence.

The first message I wrote when my mom died on her account was deleted. Ok I guess, but who is reading it close enough to make that call.

Like I said in a thread here about the FBI putting a tracking device on people's cars. My life is probably not a huge exposé "He's at Burger King again, ok grabbing a 4 pack of English cream ale. There he is at his mother inlaws house. Better track her too..."

Does kind of intrigue/annoy me to think Facebook wants to know too many real life things about everyone. Let us be slightly anon and have fun.

I like that I can sort of be in touch with my pal in Australia without having to phone him.

If you'd get him to play Conquer Club like a normal person, you could stay in touch with him on here...:)

Facebook is a spy grid for the government. They have deleted accounts for people speaking against Monsanto or GMO. I heard that Zuckerberg called his original Facebook users "dumb fuckers" for giving him their personal information like SS# and such.He also met with a high ranking Chinese official about internet regulations. So Facebook can suck my white balls.

Yeah, he's been sucking up to China a bit recently. He even taught himself Chinese and gave a half hour interview in Chinese at a Tsinghua University event a couple of months ago.

Somehow I imagine that has more to do with getting access to the Chinese market than taking seminars on how to become a badass internet censor though...

I have never, and never will, Facebag....this is my only online problem

Having a boy that is coming into the age of searching for real employment, it amazes me that there are now full time positions in companies that solely analyze facebag for new hires and existing employees looking for incriminating crap they may have posted....many stupid kids have castrated their futures due to juvenile posting. Talk about Big Brother....trying to assure that my eldest boy will not be one of them.

Andy always pokes at me. I don't take things for face value. I'm like a chess champion, 12 moves ahead of him. Andy if you can refute what I'm saying please do.Or just Google search it before posting. It might save you the embarrassment. BTW the doctor may be crazy but that doesn't disqualify him from being a genius.

They do concede quite quickly when governments ask them to provide information.

Whatsapp was recently banned by a judge in Brazil. What do you think is next? Whatsapp is gonna lick the balls of Brazil for a little bit and accept to release information whenever asked in the future. 200 million inhabitatns, probably 80 of them will pay for whatsapp.

Microsoft has been working with the US government forever. Google too.

So let's not be stupid.

Meh. The police have had the power to tap phones for decades. The authorities cyber-stalking your social media is just the government catching up with the internet age.

I think phone tapping started with the telecommunications act of 1996.
What are the repercussions of government watching your account? Does anyone truly believe in privacy? As far as I see there is no privacy unless you move way out to the sticks. Even then the drones flying in the sky can track you. I believe companies are becoming too invasive. The internet-of-things is out of control for people who enjoy privacy and not having to worry about your personal data being sold to other marketing firms.

Oddly enough, I just got back on Facebook. This time around though, it's mainly family and close friends whom I actually talk to somewhat, and not just adding people because I know them by name.
