After work (it is located almost next door to the airport) I hurried home because I didn't want to get trapped at work. You would never really see the president anyway, because the airport is too far away and he rode inside a limo with dark glass...big whoop! So, I opted to just go home and watch the arrival and speech live on local network TV.
Anyway, Obama was met by the Republican Governor Dennis Daugaard, Republican Senator John Thune, Republican Senator Mike Rounds, and Congresswoman Kristi Noem (also of which is a Republican), and sucked face for a while. Then Obama went to the high school and gave his speech.
If it becomes available on YouTube I will post it, but for the most part it was a very heartfelt speech.
The one political stump I mentioned in the title was basically offering free community college type of education (two year tech school education) for free and the difference for that free education would be paid by eliminating a tax loop hole that is only enjoyed by the wealthy. When Obama mentioned that you should have seen Dennis DoucheBags eyes! It was priceless!
Anyway, I hope I can get you guys the speech; because I thought it was really good and he very smartly personalized the speech by mentioned a few students and their accomplishments and dreams.
Very cool!
If you're a Republican/Conservative, you probably don't give a crap; but if you were from Watertown or South Dakota you would have put all those differences aside and thought it was really cool that the President of the United States visited your little town inside a little ol' State like South Dakota!
Obama saved the best for last! (Of which he received a t-shirt saying such, because South Dakota was the very last state that Obama has now visited while as President).
