how come the CCP is so intolerant of falun gong and tibetan buddhism, then?
to be fair, they allow cathoicism for some reason - although it's not "true" catholicism because they don't let rome have a say in church matters over there, so it's chinese catholicim, whatever the f*ck that is. such a bizarre country...

Tibetan Buddhism follows the Dalai Lhama, and he propagates independence.

Sadly, much of the persecution of Falun Gong can be attributed to the need in China for human organs.

A disturbing read, to be sure.

Lol not since 1978.
This policy relaxed considerably in the late 1970s at the end of the Cultural Revolution and more tolerance of religious expression has been permitted since. Since 1978, the Constitution of the People's Republic of China guarantees "freedom of religion".

Yea, but when I visit China, I'm not allowed to bring Gideon's bibles. Conveniently, I carry a couple personal bibles (2 is the maximum numbers of bible per person, one for each hand), which are in Mandarin so it's still at least technically possible to evangelize, which is the only reason a sane person would visit a country where defecating in the street is normal practice.

Given the executions and body harvesting, the "boo-hoo, I can't carry three Bibles" stuff is a bit lame.
